Austin Crawford recruitment (Bracken County - 2017)

I've been to all 28 games and I can tell you that you are wrong. And there's no reason to bash a high school kid because he doesn't meet up to your standards.

He was giving honest assessment.

How did I bash him? By saying he's not a great athlete? He'd tell you that himself. He plays on the inside. That's a fact. He shoots 33% from 3. 45% from the field. Will those numbers go up at the next level?

He is a really nice high school player, for sure.

I think that everyone has forgotten he had surgery on his knee over the summer and has gotten back to normal these past two weeks. I don't know if it was mental or physical but he's starting to trust his knee again.

He did look pretty good when they beat Campbell earlier in the season though.

Everyone looked good that game :lol2: He's gotten a lot better since that game too. I thought he really improved on shooting this year

Did they send a generic recruiting letter or something? Wichita State has never had KY inroads, makes this puzzling.

He is showing interest from D1 college. Congratulate, not speculate.

But the randomness, I believe interest is a coach calling about or stopping by for said player. Interest is not a form letter with "insert name here" and then send it out to 5,000 kids. But we haven't gotten to the bottom of it yet.

About this time last year a kid I had coached got a generic flyer from Wichita State and ask if it was an official offer. Obviously it wasn't but it opened my eyes to how naive some kids are these days.

Having said that, I agree with the above assessment that the kid isn't that level of player. Upon multiple viewings I think he is a D3 level kid and that he won't get a better offer than UPike. And that's no disrespect to UPike. They're a top NAIA program with one of the best coaches in America.

It's not a naive kid that's posting this information. Rest assured, it is someone who is much closer to the situation than those random posters on here that are simply speculating about it.

Or maybe it is a naive poster? And every piece of recruiting mail to them means "interest". Probably something that happens at Scott Co.,Ballard or other big schools all the time. But when you get it at Bracken Co. it's "interest"

I assure you that he has a stack pile of that "naive" mail that no one has mentioned. By now in the recruiting process I'm positive the family knows what is legit or not.

Quick way to tell what is legit: If the head coach of a college or university calls and offers you a scholarship, it is legit. Anything else is interest.

You are missing a few steps. If the coach has seen you play in AAU, talks to his AAU coach or come to a HS practice(s) or game(s). If that doesn't come first then you won't be getting that call you mentioned above.
