Congratulations to the Blueboys for not only getting the monkey off their backs with their 1st win but beating their crosstown rival to get it!

Now that they both have happened, that ball that bounced off the defender's chest for a cov cath TD reminded me a lot of the ridiculous ole miss TD on Saturday where a ball should've gone one way and ended up sealing the victory for the other. The football gods definitely had their hand in this game, but beechwood played quite well for playing beechwood football for about half the game.

Does BW play linemen both ways? That's a challenge.

 

Their d-tackles are also the main providers of success on the o-line, as well as at least one linebacker (slusher) who practically never gets off the field, from reps as wr, to linebacker, to punter.

I think he is a really good receiver and one of the best in NKY. I think he could play on Saturday's at that position.

More than anything I'd say the overmatch was definitely the line. but specifically the numbers of players on the line. Beechwood just simply doesn't have enough kids to keep up with teams like cov cath that can match the number of athletes and still be rotating in guys while platooning defense and offensive lines. Even by the second quarter you could tell those kids playing both d-line and o-line for bw were out of gas.

Yes, this is the line depth issue that has been commented on concerning Beechwood. Last year, Beechwood platooned on the line and it showed as they dominated the line of scrimmage versus Cov Cath. This year, the Tigers don't have the depth on the line and almost all linemen are going both ways for most of the game. Although, I will say this, Beechwood's line actually played better in the second half than in the first, so I am not going to say it is all about lack of depth. Some of it was just getting that experience and learning against a top notch opponent. The last drive the lack of depth definitely caught up to Beechwood.

The loss of starting center and nose guard Kyle Rowe has drained B W of depth, speed, strength and football smarts. Might be able to return in two more weeks and that will make a significant difference in both line's play. Doctors allowed soft practice last week and he reportedly did well. Outside chance for a return this week, but suspect he will be held out one more week. (But, I got my medical degree in the math department).

Yes the BW line plays both ways. They have met the challenge aginst platooning teams before CCH. They have gotten a little dinged. 56 hurt a knee vs Lloyd and made it back for the CCH game. 51 separated a shoulder in first half vs CCH and was pulled late in 3rd quarter. Those kids are gamers. The CCH team came ready to play. BW did not. Lesson learned. On to next week. Work on getting healthy
