Artists You Disliked/Hated That Everyone Else Loved

Featured Replies

Saw this name in the Rock Singers thread, and wanted to Ralph:

Janis Joplin.

I begrudgingly admit her role in rock history, but I can't stand to listen to that voice.

First one off the top of my head, and I'm sure that I'll come up with more is...

Van Halen

To be cool I faked liking them in high school, but they were truly just not my thing. Sure I could appreciate Eddie's guitar prowess, but otherwise they just got on my nerves and so did everyone who'd hoot and holler when their tunes would come on the radio. I hid pretty well for a long time that I was really rolling my eyes.

I agree with Janis too. She just grated on my nerves.

He seems to be a nice guy and kudos to him for his success, but his music bored me to tears, and quite often so did the folks who were so in love with him.

Dave Matthews

Yawn

Really dug "Welcome to the Jungle" and even "Sweet Child of Mine" when they first came out, but in short order them being WAY overplayed, and Axl Rose's voice sounding like a squealing cat in a fight, and a whole entire generation treating them as some kind of god annoyed me to no end that my stomach would turn if hearing them, or even hearing of them.

You know who I'm talkin' about.

REO , Eagles, Pink Floyd and Def Leppard. Hate them all and everyone around me loved them.

Never understood why rock radio played "38 Special" to death, and still can't figure out why classic rock radio continues to play them as if they were something special.

What's to love?

I never got it.

I liked "Freebird" the first 500 times I heard it.

Yes

Dave Matthews Band

I like Pink Floyd but absolutely can't stand The Wall

The Beach Boys

James Taylor: a girl who dumped me liked him, so of course I couldn't stand him.

(but I've come to like him over time)

I respect him as a great guitarist, but I really could never get too excited about Eric Clapton.

No doubt can't stand Dave Matthews Band. If you tell people that like him that you don't, you get the you are just not smart enough to get it look....

I agree on Yes. To me it just sounds like someone has a hold of his gonads when he is singing.

Initially Motley Crue seemed interesting, but then they swiftly sold their souls to cheese ball pop crap.
