I'd say Nathan Roe has proved to be one of if not the best defensive player in NKY. The kid has speed, strength, can make a tackle, and might be one of the smartest players I've seen personally. His twin Matthew should be mentioned as well, but is he a top 10 player?... Possibly but not sure.

Is this list based on H.S. only or what is known about players from their club experience?

Is he a better baseball or soccer player?

In my personal opinion I believe he is better at soccer. Not to take anything away from his baseball ability.

Not that stats mean much on here but Morgan has 18 goals and 6 assists for Scott. Total Scott has scored 27 goals this season so Morgan has played a role in 24 of them. That just blows me away.

Stepover... I think this really speaks to how big a role he plays, and plays well, on the offensive side of the ball for Scott. I actually looked at this information a few days ago when I poked around at some offensive numbers and was suprised to find a couple of players that were involved in about 90% of their teams scoring while still being the focal point of most defenses they go up against.

I much prefer that number than goals and assists only because it shows just how important the player is to the team....but as mentioned many times by many people, opponent strength has to be examined......are 4 goals and a couple of assists, say against Beechwood who is in their first year and struggling better than a goal against a top NKY team?

 

It all comes down to what parameters they use to determine it......is it numbers only, numbers and team record (if you have good goal numbers on a team that has a winning percentage around 50%), is strength of schedule considered.....

I agree YC and Stepover....Morgan is a very good talent on a team that requires him to do it all himself, unfortunately. If he had a Schneider or another Morgan like last year to take some of the pressure and focus off of him, would he have Treadway numbers?

Great questions. I would also look at when did the goals occur and what impact they had on the game? Scoring 3 goals in an 7-0 win, when 2 of these goals could have happened well after the loosing team has been demoralized and possible given up Vs scoring the lone late in the game in a very tight 1-0 win against a very good team. Give me the kid that scored the lone goal and if he has a track record of doing so, even though he may only have half as many total goals.

I just want to know if Brady Gesenhues has cemented his name in the top 10 players in NKY even though he is not considered the best HHS player by some on here.

I saw the Birds vs the Breds last week and I was not impressed with the Birds defense at all. Multiple opportunities where the Breds got behind the defense but couldn't finish. Gesenhues was a non-factor in the game. In my opinion the best Birds Defender was Steppe. I would not put Gesenhues in a top 10 defenders list, much less a top 10 players list. Maybe you all should get out to see them play.

This debate between Jack of all Trades and SidelineView supports the idea to have unbiased members (can't vote for players from the school you support/school your kid attends or once attended) vote for these selections.

Sounds like someone got their feelings hurt and nice shot at a high school kid. Those that know soccer in NKY will certainly put him in their top 10 list.
