Given the very weak competition, very weak schedule NCC is playing this season, I see no a NCC player can be considered for any top 3 in any category. How can you legitimately evaluate NCC players playing against this type of competition, compared some of the other teams players going up against the likes of Trinity, Moeller, Tates Creek, Elder, Sumitt, etc. #35 NCC's OAS 4.12 speaks for itself.

After seeing him completely take Wend out of the Connor game and then seeing how well he was able to manage Morgan in the Scott game I would put him in the top 3. he was personally the best defender I have seen play this year. He didn't have a whole lot of help in the back either. he was number 4 i believe and his last name was Enzwieler.

 

#4 is a good defender but he plays midfield - not in the back 4 on defense. You might need to get your vision checked or ask that the players have larger numbers on their jerseys.

Come on sideline, we agree on everything especially the fact McDonald is gone. From one Ncc guy to the next I thought you'd have my back here.

Justin has proven himself this year, stop being so hard on your boy. Consider the circumstances he is under. He is a leader in the back and deserves the recognition.

There are plenty of other good defenders too but none that carry an entirely new defense on his shoulders the way Justin does. If we can get healthy our defense can take us a long way. You got rid of McDonald now let's pull together and turn this program around

You won't know until the end of the year if your team was disrespected.

 

I would also like to throw out there that there are a few of the coaches that are friends and hopefully when it comes time to vote, they vote for the deserving players appropriately and not just for each others players.

Double.....I appreciate you standing up for the program....and appreciate the fact that the boys don't control the schedule........but the fact that they have given up 25 goals playing that ...perceived weaker.....schedule, is what would sway me a little if I were a voting member.....seems like a lot.

I haven't seen any mention of any kids from the smaller schools on here and maybe they aren't top 3 for OPOY or DPOY but there is a defensive player for Holy Cross that has to be in the top 5 if not the top 3. I will let you figure out who it is. Yellow Card should have the next opportunity to check them out and provide feedback.

 

I've been told that this player made Wend a non factor against Conner and really limited Morgan against Scott - drew a yellow on him because of frustration. So, that's 2 of the top 4 OPOY's on this thread.

In terms of last nights match, I thought he was a very solid defender and did a pretty good job of trying to limit the touches that Snow had. When he did get the ball, I thought he did a good job of getting to him quickly and always seemed to try and put a body on him and disrupt his movement whenever possible.

Correct. I didn't have a chance to catch the game but heard that #7 had a good game and that the HC defense had an OG and also gave up an open shot to #7 on a badly cleared ball right back to the middle of the field just outside the 18. I was also told that it was a pretty evenly played match but the 2 mentioned defensive errors is what made the difference in the score.

I think you got some pretty good info. The own goal was unfortunately caused by a poor clearance. I also feel that the goal off the free kick was a result of a defensive lapse. It seemed like the goalie was fooled because it was played so far outside of the frame and once it came back towards the goal he was not ready.

Linstead, is a decent back but giving up 4 goals to Cooper? Cmon man

 

Imo he doesn't fit the mold of DPOY, he's not a game changer. Look at last year's DPOY Co players. Jacob Hensley was a game changer for Ncc, he was the best defender in the state I.e. he was state DPOY as well, he also had 15 goals. Then you had the keeper from Cooper who played behind basically the same defense they have this year and only gave up like 9 goals all year.

Nobody said he was going to be the state DPOY, I mentioned I thought he could be top 3 or at least top 5 in NKY.

 

Just keep stirring the pot just because some one doesn't have NCC on their jersey doesn't mean you have to try and discredit them.

Having watched NCC both years I'm not seeing that person.

Sir that is interesting but would take time and maybe more brain power than I have. Using your previous formula though may shed some light for the masses. It would be good if there was a way to incorporate the strength of schedule from the Ohio teams. I just went with what Maher had as strength of schedule.

Formula is player = points x avg. Maher opp =Maher weighted points. This is from A previous post by Sir. I did the top 8 scorers. Forgive me if I missed someone. Not intended.

A Snow- 50 x 6.18=309

D Sanders- 39x 7.10=276

J Litzler- 38x7.16= 272

B Day- 28x 7.16=200

D Morgan- 44x 4.23= 186

C Wend- 67x 2.12= 142

Z Leffler- 45x -1.3= ? I'll make this 45 for easy math purposes.

 

I think you could possibly flip Sanders and Litzler depending on how strength of schedule worked out with the Ohio schools. It's close either way.

About mid way through the season......let's try again.

 

Who stands out......

 

DPY........The entire CCH starting Defensive 4 (Darpel, Thiemann, Austin Flynn, Ryan Massie) averaging under 0.7 goals per game and if I had the time to count shots on goal allowed, I would guess they would lead that stat.......against one of the hardest schedules played...IMHO

 

I know quoting yourself is not necessarily the right thing to do, but after 16 games CCH defense of Darpel, Thaemann in the middle / Massie, Flynn on the outside and Romes as GK have given up 7 total goals (and 3 of those came during times that they weren't in and one was a very questionable pk call.)

 

So, with a 0.4375 goals against average per game, while playing one of the toughest schedules, I resubmit them for consideration .......

 

As a defensive team they have accomplished this, but IMHO, I also throw out consideration that if they were on another team, each would be stand outs individually.
