I predicted a 21-14 BG win before the game. And it played out about how I thought. I was really convinced OHS had improved on defense from last year. And it showed tonight. Unfortunately right now they miss Locher(QB) & Collier(WR) from last year on offense. I,as most do,expect these two to meet again in the playoffs. If both teams are as healthy as tonight, and the game is at Rash Stadium, I like Owensboro 28-17.

My one complaint - no play clock on the field? What is this 1990?

As many coaches they have at OHS they can designate a play clock guy. It's simple.

To start, outside of throwing int's Owensboro played great!

Now the Purples. 2 more fumbles. This offense is wasting away talent with a lack of attention to detail. 9 fumbles in 4 games with Carothers having 6 of those. Secondary and linebackers made this win possible. Im not going to make it through this season without having a massive heart attack. Time for some individual pride and discipline to get control of this sloppiness.

As far as the play clocks go, when you have five seconds left to run the play, the back judge will raise his hand as an indicator to both the QB and coach. That late in the 4th, with 3 timeouts left, either the coach or the QB has to burn one at that point. That's pretty basic stuff that doesn't need a play clock. JMO.

I got lambasted for putting Owensboro at #1 in my 5A rankings last week. Moving BG up to #1 , but I don't think my rankings were that unreasonable.

If you made the prediction I think you did, most of the criticisms were about having Highlands ahead of BG and Pulaski. I know mine was.

Franklin-Simpson installed play clocks. About half the home games the officiating crew refused to use them and they had to be turned off.

Thats very interesting Mac! Why didn't the refs want to use them?

They said it was unfair for a team that did not have play clocks to be forced to rely on them. I think a more likely reason is the officials did not want the accountability.

It is time for OHS to stop the sideline huddle with the qb and oc. Takes way too much time and accounts for too many 25 second clock violations.

Why is it only 25 seconds in high school? No wonder I enjoy high school football more than college and the NFL. They don't have a bunch of time in between plays. Granted 25 seconds seems like it isn't enough time but 40 seconds is too much. 30 seconds is plenty.

I was wondering the same thing Bowtie, as it clearly puts them in a "rushed" situation on most plays.

Franklin-Simpson only has one play clock at one end, therefore, you can not use it sense the play clock in not on the other end.
If you had told me OHS turns it over 5 times and only loses by a FG, i would have been shocked. The Devils defense is the real deal. Its hard not to look ahead to a potential playoff matchup between these two down the road. OHS is due for a win in this matchup. Its been a long time.

Kind of like Murray and OC. OHS has only beaten BG 1 time since 2000.

Obviously, there were two clocks. When it was decided to cease using them one was taken out because it was vandalized by some visiting fans and needed repairs. At some point I think they will be reinstalled and hopefully put back in service.
