September 8, 201511 yr If your gonna run speed option use Braxton or JT... I'll never understand why you would take Ben Roethlisberger and ask him to play like Colin Kaepernick. It is how Urban likes to ball, but speed option is out if Jones is in, IMO. Preach! I tell you what this update thread is fun to read with you OSU fans haha. So you want to put a new QB in to run speed option, like that wouldn't give it away. Jones running the speed option is fine, and honestly probably wouldn't have mattered who was running it. Virginia Tech is playing it very well right now. However now why OSU is not just trying to pound the ball with Elliot is another story. I am not an OSU fan, but give the guy the dang ball.
September 8, 201511 yr The adjustment is get Zeke the ball in the second half. Once that happens, you can use play action and roll outs to make things easier for your inexperienced receivers (and inexperienced QB, for that matter). Of course, you can go to the backup QB and run the option based system, but I wouldn't try to do that with Cardale. JMO.

Jones does not have enough acceleration for the speed option. I much rather tell the defense were running speed option and let them try to stop someone with 4.4 speed doing it.

I am a UK alum and, besides Berea College (go Mountineers!), they are the only schools I root for. I am a football coach and fan and that is the perspective I offer.

September 8, 201511 yr We will see if this years fighter(team) has a chin and can take a punch! We're running a JT Barrett offense with Cardale Jones, we did not run this offense with Cardale last December.
September 8, 201511 yr Hey Urb, run the ball. Or at least let his QB who can throw it 80 yards.. throw it.. stop trying to let him run option.
