I am curious how the playing field is uneven. Scott County won a championship only two years ago, and if they win/play close against Elder, they will be a solid contender for the title again this year. If they can run with the top teams, why can't the rest of Lexington?

 

You cant compare Scott County with the Lexington schools since it is the biggest public school in the state and the only school in the county (many built in advantages but you need to have a good coach to take advantage which they now have)Lexington needs to have open enrollment for any school and then a great coach could build a program and kids from all over the city would want to go there this would make them very competitive but currently the talent is so spread out tough to build a program to compete with Trinity. Why dont any 6a louisvile schools beside male , st x and trinity win state titles in football and anymore it has been just trinity.

The rest of 6a louisvile is alot like lexington some good teams but talent too spread out to compete with top catholic schools or a school like Male.

Scott County has a population of 51,000 and one 6A school. Fayette County has a population of 310,000 and five 6A schools. There are five private schools, a 3A, a 2A and the other three don't have football teams. Considering that let's set aside 60,000 for the private schools just to be careful. This still leaves a 50,000 population for each of the 6A schools to draw from, practically the same as Scott County.

 

Also, Lafayette has four D1 athletes so I am at loss to see how their talent is spread too thin.

Trinity and St. X get kids from all over Louisville even Indiana from what Im told and if Im not mistaken Male has an open enrollment so I would assume kids can come to Male from anywhere in the city (maybe I'm wrong) but if a school in Lexington could get players from any part of the city then 1 or 2 schools with the best programs would attract most of the talent like in Louisville and Lex. would produce a higher quality team. Scott has an advantage in that they can start coaching their kids and implenmenting their system starting in jr high since they only have 1 high school in the county, Lex schools have many feeder schools and kids at the same jr.high end up at different high schools also none are in sync with the high school programs. Take the 4 DI player from Lafayette and put them at BS plus a few other stud players from HC etc. and see what type of team you have in Lexington. The Ville has 3 schools where most of the talent goes to play the other big Louisville schools in 6A or evern 5A are average most years becasue alot of the top players even if they are in their district go to 1 of the big 3. I dont hate Trinity,St X or Male I enjoy watching them play but to say the dont have an advatage over schools that dont have open enrollments is crazy. If Trinity played with their talent in Division 1 Ohio they might win a state title every now and then but they would not dominate becuase they would be playing the same type of schools who get players from all over.

Lex Catholic is great program in their class and have won several state titles,Also Lex. Christian has had some great teams for their class, I'm talking big schools and Lexington has had teams in the top 10 many times, BS (my alma mater) took St X to double over time in a state title game I think back in 2000 and have had several talened teams since, I dont ever see where PRP , Eastern, Fern Creek etc. have the talent to beat Trinity, ST. X and Male,we will see how many titles the 5A schools out of the ville win I dont think they have won any as of today. Manual has had a nice program since the coach from BS came there but they have never been able to get over the hump of the top 3. Scott Co has some other advantages that I wont get into on a post but 1 thing they do have is a very good coach who has done a great job building their program. Lex. has some things that would need to change before they can have a school field a team to compete especially with Trinity on a yearly basis. I I can only speak for Bryan Station there coaching staff works very hard (alot of ex college players) who really care for the program and dont think any goal is impossible and I guarantee they try and compete all the time.

I remain unconvinced on Scott County, but I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree there.

 

True, PRP and Manual can't beat the big three most years, but Manual can always compete with them and PRP looks to be on the rise. This is Fern Creek's first year in 5A. A title would surprise me, but I expect them to do well in the play-offs and could easily see them in a state semifinal.

 

Great to hear that about Station. I'm very much looking forward to Fayette County schools becoming strong contenders. Steel sharpens steel; improving the quality of football in any area benefits the entire state.

Male is a much more solid team than Lafayette. Smaller payout exists but a better chance for a payday.

What about it is arrogance? That is the core question. How is it arrogant to think you will win, when you are proven correct? I don't recall anyone bashing Lafayette, just making the point that Trinity was better, which they proved on the field. Could you show an example of the arrogance of which you speak?

The problem being that Louisville schools consistently win? Louisville schools obey all the same KHSAA rules. It is up to other teams to play at their level. Scott County does it, so it isn't as though it's impossible. Perhaps y'all should work on fixing that problem instead of complaining.

 

Also, are you insinuating that Trinity has some sway with the KHSAA? If that is so why was the Super district created? Nobody at Trinity (or any of the other schools) wanted that as it guaranteed that only one of the top Louisville schools made it past the quarterfinals. The realignment and district matching for this year does the same thing and certainly caused grumbling. I am honestly mystified as to why anyone would think Trinity has sway with the KHSAA.
