Did hear at halftime that St.X has 1601 students this year. 40% receive tuition assistance and they will distribute 3.7 million this year. FACTS Management Company (FACTS) is used as an objective evaluator and interpreter of financial need based on criteria applied to data submitted by the financial aid applicants. (So...no athletes do not get more than other students. Awards are based only on family income and the number of students in the household who must pay tuition to a school). Tuition at St. X is $13,320

 

My stepson just started his freshman year there and even though he said he has met some really good athletest who are clearly on scholarship, he also pointed out to me he met a Latino boy who doesn't play sports but scored a 35 on the ACT and is receiving assistance. No legacy as well so I do applaud St X for being diverse and also awarding the smart kids who need financial assistance.

I'm admittedly not one of the biggest fans of making the measure of a team according to their D1 prospects/commits. The way I see it...Cov Cath's '06 team only had two D1-FBS players (Popham/kicker/Wake Forest, and Donoghue/defensive line/Louisville), and they did manhandle Bowling Green in the AAA finals. So what?

Anyway, Cov Cath was grossly outmatched by St. X tonight. The Colonels have to move on and learn their lessons.

 

Donoghue was not on that team, and he played offensive line. I believe he graduated 2 or 3 years prior.

Two statements bother me...

 

1. The idea that this X team would blast the 06 team. That's comical. The 06 Cov Cath team manhandled a BG team that featured SEVEN D-1A offerd starters including kids that would go to the SEC and one who is now on a NFL roster. This St. X does feature a roster that exceeds that depth of high end talent.

 

2. The idea of how NOBODY in Ky can play with the GCL. Trinity would win the GCL 1 out of every three years. They would be just fine this year.

Comical? I'll bet this years Saint Xavier team would have destroyed Bishop Watterson from the same year.

 

The 06 team was special, but we would have been put away by X tonight.

Actually Joseph Casteneda and Josh Blesser ended their careers at UofL too.

Trinity does but that is not the point, everyone else isn't playing them, CCH is playing them and it is bad scheduling by CovCath.

 

And Louisville St. X. Most years they make a game of it, and every so often they win. I would not feel too good about this year though...

Why are you guys crying about who made the schedule. Over the pass years Highlands has played GCL teams and they didn't complain. Who is crying? When has highlands loaded their schedule quite like this? (Actual question). If you can't see the difference in scheduling 1 or 2 Gcl schools per year and the current schedule...

Shouldn't the schedule blame fall on the AD? He's the one that allowed the contracts to be signed. And if those are the schools the AD felt they could compete with this season why does the Head Coach get a pass?

To be the best, you have to play the best and those 3 men had faith, I would assume, that their boys were up to the challenge.

CCH always gets beat on when they play the big boys from across the river or down state. I don't understand why those 3 men had faith that things would be any different this year.

Maybe they need to learn to take a bus ride a little longer than 15 minutes a little more frequently. It could open up some doors to some much more reasonable competition.

My comment about firing the person/persons responsible was a joke because of the above listed info. I will admit that mr Bacigalupo needs a stern talking to...at least. Just kidding.
