All I know is I'm waiting a hell of a lot longer for less coverage with higher out of pocket expenses. Folks getting free care who are here illegally so they can vote illegally for the idiots who want to continue that gravy train in order to stay in power. That's how I feel. I try to stay out of these political threads but sometimes I read 'em and just cannot click away from it.

When I go to the doctor I rarely wait more than 15 minutes...I have a very close friend from Canada.. He said most of the stuff we hear in the states about their healthcare system is made up by those against national healthcare. He told me if you go to the ER in Canada and its not a true emergency..( a head cold) they can refuse to treat you and send you to the local urgent care. In the states they have to treat you no matter what your ailment is.. The sad thing is in the US the ER is the only guaranteed method of medical treatment and is also the most expensive..

My family owned land in Canada for 20 years , close friends with former owners . Their HC system is far worse than ours .

There was a sign in the ER " If you are on medicaid and your visit is deemed not an emergency you will be charged $3.00 " -- SMH .

It appears to me that Democrats are having no healthcare problems that can be associated with Obamacare, but that Republicans are having all kinds of troubles.:idunno:

I don't know what alternative utopia you all were living in where you were getting short ER waits and convenient appointments up until two years ago.

I can't think of a time when seeing a specialist as a new patient wasn't a long wait. Heck, finding a new gynecologist with an opening means waits of 2-5 months. I've been to the ER plenty of times with bothy kids when they were young. Heck, the night my son broke his hip, we were there for 2 hours before he has an x-ray, and it took another hour before they came in and made us leave the room so they could pull his leg back into a position where his knee wasn't next to his chin. The only time I have ever been taken back right away was in Columbus IN when I was so sick with a kidney infection I almost passed out in the doorway of the ER when the desk clerk at the hotel I was staying at dropped me off at the door. This is not a new phenomenn, and it is not a result of AHCA

To the first question, very well could be. Remember also that there was that mass exodus of practitioners we were supposed to see, so that could be part of it also.

 

To the second question, apparently so. More unwashed liberals than ever enrolled in some kind of health care plan. A travesty.

 

I have no issues with my primary care seeing me...my witchdoctor on the other hand has a line around his hut day and night.

Just a reminder ACA requires you have to have insurance. Its a financial requirement.

 

Having insurance and getting proper care are two completely independent things - do not confuse the two.

I won't pretend to understand this whole system. I do know that my family had good insurance before Obamacare and we have that same insurance with rates that keep going up. I also know that there are many doctors and hospitals that do not accept certain insurances because reimbursement is so low. So, though more and more people are getting insurance, I don't think that means they have equal access to or get the same care as those with better insurance. Affordable care does not mean equal care

I am a Republican and a health care worker. I know there was a huge need for affordable care an must admit that the Republican Party did not make it happen. I believe the Democratic Party forced this through too quickly and there are going to be a lot of problems down the road because if it. But it is a beginning. Hopefully (but doubtfully), Obamacae can be reexamined in a fair bipartisan way and tweaked so people can get better insurance without having to diminish the coverage of others.
