Featured Replies

Out of district does Belfry have a great schedule. I know LexCath has to play:

Ryle

Johnson Central

Madison Central

Cooper

Southwestern

Tates Creek

Harlan County

Newport Central Catholic

Pikeville

Knoxville Catholic (TN)

Cabell Midland (WV)

Johnson Central

LexCath, Boyle and Tilghman all have tougher schedules than Belfry does. IMO that should reflect in the rankings.

To the date.. yes. Since Belfry hasn't even played yet.

But Boyle having a tougher schedule overall than Belfry?!?!?!?

LOL

You serious Clark?

We already visited this topic last week:

1. Tilghman

2. Belfry

3. Central

4. LexCath

5. Boyle

When it comes to schedule strength.

Ryle and Cooper look much better on the schedule than they did last week. That isn't anyone's fault, it just is how it goes. Most would have looked at those as Top 15 6A teams and now they likely are Top 8-10. So after one week the schedule gets better. We'll have to wait and see if the rest of the 3A schedules have similar improvement.

Didn't Boyle beat Tates Creek by 8 in a scrimmage? And I know, I know, "they played subs, they ran different plays, they were within scoring distance twice and didn't score, etc." Point being it is really hard to make definitive judgments on team's placement in the rankings after only one or two games.

NO, really, Creek is not that good at all. As far as Belfry, we all know how good they are as a program, but to say you beat a 6A TC, I'll keep that hush and move on to the following game.

I understand. And your point is well taken. But Belfry didn't play the opening week and this week is their bowl game. So while it's hard to say Belfry is better than everyone else in 3A, it's also hard to truly say they aren't the best.

Boyle plays Central Hardin, Bell County, Danville, LexCath, Collins, Anderson County who are all ranked in their respective classes, save for Central Hardin who lost their ranking because of Boyle County. They'll be ranked by the end of the year though.

Belfry plays NCC, Johnson Central and Lawrence County as their three best opponents. All the rest on Belfry's schedule will pose ZERO competition for Belfry.

I'm not even sure how this is debatable. :lol2:

For the record I don't have a problem with moving Belfry off the 1 line in August..especially if other teams prove it on the field/

But let's at least see them take a snap in a game first before we evaluate.

Are you [just stirring the pot or serious?

Knoxville Catholic

Cabell Midland

Both are better than anyone on Boyle's schedule... and probably by a pretty good margin at that.

I don't know, PP. I'm not saying the schedule is better than Boyle's, but "ZERO competition" might not be accurate. Pikeville could win Class A and they beat Belfry last year. Cabell-Midland in West Virginia is always good. I don't know anything about Knoxville Catholic, though.

Knoxville Catholic has a calpreps rating of 49.4 and are considered the 8th best team OVERALL in Tennessee.

Cabell Midland has a Calpreps rating of 37 and is considered the 4th best overall team in WV

And get out of here with that Collins non-sense..they beat Montgomery County 7-0.

Pikeville> Danville

Oh, so now rankings don't count?

I refuse to take up for Danville. I just know they are ranked and the only team Boyle plays from a lower classification.

FWIW, since PP doesn't believe in Out of State Competition

neutral field

[2015] Knoxville Catholic (Knoxville, TN) 34, [2015] Boyle County (Danville, KY) 21

Pikeville is ranked higher than Danville

I am just saying Collins beat an awful team and barely did so.

neutral field

[2015] Pikeville (KY) 38, [2015] Danville (KY) 17
