Raceland 36 West Carter 25

FYI

Raceland has a great program and a entire community behind them. I don't think anyone has ever questioned that. Feeling that a team is overrated does not mean I have a poor attitude, it simply means that I feel this years Raceland team is not as good as advertised. Raceland lost a lot from last years team. Conner Messer was the most important part of all three phases of the game and has not been replaced.

Raceland should have taken a knee or been very conservative with their play call, that is smart and classy football. It's not a shot at the kids either they are going to do what they are told. You can twist it how ever you want but Raceland was trying to score and did. Then West returned a kickoff for a TD so what was the point? Run the clock out and be glad you avoided an upset.

Ashland, Lawrence, Fairview, Paintsville and Russell are just as good as West Carter and most are better. West Carter did not play well in this game either. A good contest between Raceland and West Carter was not a result of West having a some kind of perfect game.

Raceland may very well win a State Title this year and that would be a beautiful thing. But then again its not how good you are it's who you play and maybe Class A football will be like that this year?

I don't know about Roberts but Brown and Thomas are not faster than what they saw last night. Baker obviously is. I watched Brown and Thomas every game when they were at Fairview. That QB last night was easily faster than either of them.

Trust me Brown is faster then anyone on the field Saturday night. Or don't you will see it come Friday.

Raceland's fans, coaches, and players need to stop all this talk about Bowling Green. That team I saw Saturday night is a long, long way from being a state title contender. There are several teams on Racelands schedule that are 30+ points better than WC. You all are way out over your ski's.

Not so fast my friend! We don't learn much about teams until the 3rd or 4th week if the season honestly. Depending who they schedule in out if district play of course. I think it's a bit too early to count Raceland or any of the other contenders out after playing one game.

I'm not a Ram, but I certainly wouldn't count them out of any game they play this year. I also can't think of anyone in their schedule that's gonna hang 30+ on them, unless your talking about total points instead of win margin.

Many people aren't educated on Raceland like you are. Raceland is never good, until your team plays them. That's how it's always been and how it will always be. Thanks JD!

One thing Raceland has had some issues with in the past is playing at the level of their opponent. Example, Raceland plays Ashland and it's always a good game. Raceland plays East Cart (no knock on EC) and they may only win by a couple TDs. Recently that's how it has been. But come big games Raceland always plays better.

I do know I saw Baker & the Brown Kid from West all year in track and he was State runner-up in the 200 in Class A & Baker won the 100 & the 200 in AA.

I wish my "smartphone" was as educated as it claims. Every time I type "on" auto correct wants to tell everyone I typed "in."

There are several things that could have contributed to Raceland not winning big Saturday. It's too early in the season to judge any one team. It seems like half the teams in the state haven't even played a game yet lol. Personally I think Raceland will be just fine no matter what the result of this Friday's game is.

Raceland has never been the favorite to beat Ashland, ever, not a time, not once, ever. Even when they had runs of three consecutive wins over Ashland. It's ok, we don't have to be the favorite. I'm not bothered a bit. Ashland should just go ahead and start preparing for GW, get ready for them. Yea, that's the ticket, get ready for GW.

In defense, the game is always one of the first couple games played for each team. In all honesty no one knows much about either that early in the season. So most people that don't know any better are automatically going to go with the 4a school over the 1a school. There have been times when the Rams obviously had a better squad, but like I said with both teams just jumping out of the starting gate, most are going to go with the 4a team. IMO, if the game was played later in the season, some years people may favor the Rams. Personally I like the early season matchup though, it helps both teams prepare for the rest of the season IMO.

I agree with what was said earlier by someone. Raceland always stinks until either A: the week we play them B: Raceland plays close or wins. Now, its funny because NOT ALL, but many of the Ashland/Russell/Fairview fans, will claim "got us on a down year" or we "managed to pull one off". We havent won a title or made it to a final game, but even back when we were playing in 4 class football, we were playing in regional final games against NCC and Beechwood.

Back to the game, I think our front 7 defensively will keep us in the game. Offensively, we will need to open things up a bit. Baker will probably break one or two. If he breaks 3 or 4, idk if there is any way we can compete in a shoot out. We have to take advantage of redzone opportunities and not leave points off the score board. We need 6-10 play drives that take 5-8 mins off the clock. That, imo, will be our secret to success this season. Belfry/JC ball.

So this pass play that has comet2 upset, didn't it come after West attempted a onside kick that Raceland recovered just after West had scored? If the Comets weren't done playing then why do you expect the Rams to stop playing comet2?

The game was decided by less than 2 scores. "Let it go" Elsa. And yes that is possibly the first and probably only reference to a disney movie you will ever see on bgp. If Raceland had a running clock or up by 3+ TDs id agree. But it was a 2 score football game. Why is this even a topic of discussion?

Heck, Mike may have been worried that if we didnt score again, West would run a punt back. Not like our coversge was exactly on point Friday.

West kicked an onside kick because they were behind and we're trying to win. Raceland threw the pass with the game in hand. They take a knee it's over. Based on your logic if Raceland takes a knee On first down and west uses their last time out. Then Raceland should try to score in second down because West was still trying to play. I realize west wasn't in the lead but had the roles been reversed and they tried to throw it in the endzone Raceland fans would have been fit to be tied. If you disagree you are not being honest.

To be fair, Raceland would not have had to punt, just down the ball successfully. Personally I have no problem with what Raceland did, it was the first game of the season and they obviously have some things they're going to want to work on.

Like you said, it would be different if they dominated the game and were clearly trying to run up the score. I don't think they were trying to run it up, probably just trying to execute a particular play or work on a previous play that wasn't executed properly earlier in the game.
