US-127 Yard Sale

Featured Replies

Starts this Thursday and runs thru Sunday.

I usually end up trying to hit this on at least 2 or 3 days, if not all 4. Sometimes I go with some thing(s) specifically in mind to look for, while other times, it's just to browse and see what I can find.

I know a lot of people that "look down" on yard sales and think it's nothing but junk. I look at it as the Great American Recycling Program. But, the best part about it, is that my son loves to do it with me. The thing that sucks this year, is he starts school tomorrow. :depressed:

I love, love LOVE the 127. Seriously, love it.

My only complaint is that recently, a lot of it has become a lot of people selling knock-off products as if it is their own business.

It used to be people with their own stuff, and that stuff was either awesome or hilarious. Too much of it now is somebody with Coach bags, Gucci sunglasses or stupid flat bill hats.

Is this the "World's Longest Yard Sale"? If it is, I think I'm going down to Mainstrausse one day this weekend to look around. Need to find some stuff for the house (nothing in particular).

What type of stuff do you typically find and what's the quality?

AdoptedAdmiral has managed to pay about a grand total of $3.75 over the years to acquire about $15K worth of vintage audio equipment. Probably about $15K in vinyl in his shed that he paid about $2.75 for.

And this is why I'll be taking an alternate route to the lake

Heck, it's been going on along 127 in Lawrenceburg and Frankfort the past several days. people had booths up and selling stuff this past weekend. Will really get crazy Friday.

I bought an old reel mower for $10 a few years ago. Not a thing wrong with it other than the blades could have used a little sharpening, which I never did. Worked fine, and f you don't know you can easily pay $100 and more for a new one. I gave it away to a kid a couple summers ago. Made his day.

Yep, this is that sale.

As to what you can find...just about anything under the sun, if you're willing to look. It seems like it's been my luck, that when I go with something particular in mind...I have a heck of time find it. But, if I've got nothing specific on the list, I seem to find tons of things!

Also around the Florence area there will be alot of race cars coming thru to Florence Speedway; Pedestrians and motorists should really watch carefully as the semis pulling these cars can't stop on a dime.

Saw quite a bit of vinyl for sale this year. One of the biggest collections was probably a small truckload at a stop in your Gallatin County, behind Clyde's Carryout...how could I not think about your post?!? :lol2:

A guy once sold me 150 albums on vinyl for 15 bucks. Because he just didn't want to pack them up.

A ton of good stuff in it, too.

I hate it. So glad I was in Japan and Lexington and missed it. People are stupid and look at your crazy for trying to park IN YOUR OWN DRIVEWAY when you get off of work. Hate. It.

Signed,

Homeowner in a neighborhood on 127

 just an AWFUL look.

I love yard sales, you never know what treasures you'll find. Picked up a 1948 complete (unused) Indy 500 ticket about 15 years ago, bought it for $20 and sold it on Ebay for $285.00. Bought a baseball card collection for $135 one time and made over $1000 selling most of it on Ebay, and still have some of the collection.

Got a nice entertainment stand at the Mainstrausse yard sale for $65. Similar stands are retailing for $200+. Nothing wrong with the stand that I can see either. The guy said he had bought a new one for a much bigger tv and no longer needed this one.
