A better question maybe who will be coming to Mf to play, with what Desales lost to graduation one has to wonder if they will be able to muster together a strong enough group to make it this far

We just hope, we have the horses to get there. One game at a time.

Mf will learn a little about themselves Friday night down in Milan, TN in their scrimmage.

H.S. FOOTBALL: Milan will use a new group of Bulldogs

It's obvious to me that neither mayfield fans or desales fans will agree on any point why the other would be better. As said above "one game at a time" and it starts tonight with the desales brown/white scrimmage.

I was looking at the Tn HS FB site and the preview of Milan said they lost 19 srs from last years team, but, a lot of those Sr starters gave way to several sophomores by mid season and that this years Jr class has 30 kids, many with returning experience and that class is the one they have their best skill kids.. They're expecting a strong year this year, but, feel like next years team will be one of their best in a long time..

I agree, after tonight, Mayfield will learn a little about themselves.

Has Mayfield gotten a lot of transfers through recent years or is it just always talent there? I do not mean this in any negative way toward Mayfield.

They do occasionally get a transfer or 2, but, mainly kids from right there in town. Graves Co has had several kids transfer to Mayfield over the years, but, at the same time, they've lost some good kids who transferred to Graves. Goes both ways. I remember getting a couple of kids from Ballard one year, but, at the same time, we lost an all-state DE to Murray and the 2 from Ballard didn't nearly make up for that loss.

Okay, thanks. Mayfield's football success throughout the years is simply amazing. I It seems like every year, they're always one of the favorites to win the state title no matter what class they are in. Never seen anything quite like it in high school sports, especially from a smaller school.

Lots of pride and tradition runs through Mayfield! Our main goal every season is a state championship. Anything less is a failure in the kids eyes.

DeSales' defense gave up 13 total points in their last six games, including holding NCC to 50 total yards of offense, the lowest amount in a state title game in any class since 1990. However, DeSales lost their leading rusher late in the season and played without him through the playoff run. With him, I think they would definitely have gotten the nod. Without him, it's probably a coin flip.
