August 2, 201511 yr Are we allowed to say Billy is an elite base stealer or is that still frowned upon? He is much better technically this year than last. I would guess his % is higher. (Just looked. 2013 - 13 SB, 1 CS; 2014 - 56 SB, 23 CS [that's much higher than I expected]; 2015 - 51 SB, 7 CS [elite]). He just has to figure out how to get on base. There was talk at one point about him batting only RH in Fall Ball to see if that can improve his OBP. He bunts enough / too much, so the focus needs to be on hitting the top 1/2 of the baseball. Every popup and strikeout for him is a missed opportunity because MOST ground balls are at least a chance to get on base. If he could learn to spray the ball around and foul off pitches to become a tough out, he'd improve his BB % (which is virtually a double or a triple the way he steals bases). K/game has decreased from .75 to .64. Progress. Billy Hamilton should spend a month in fall ball either in Arizona or in the Dominican or somewhere refining his swing plain. He has to learn to hit down on the ball enough to keep it lower, not necessarily on the ground but definitely lower to give himself a chance to get on base. If he could hit .260 and improve his obp to about .340 he would be a huge asset at the top of the order.

"Hitting someone" is just old school baseball but Pittsburgh last night and again today went high ....if your going to hit someone, Do Not Go High. Hit them in the butt, thigh or back.

I thought it was going to happen last night when Byrd took a high fast ball to the head and shoulder area. What exactly did Votto do to be ejected from the game today? I didn't watch the game.
August 3, 201511 yr Author My daughter took the day off. Sundays are not great days for her. Don't blame her at all today. Especially with it being Faith Day. Beer sales were awful, so unless she planned on carrying a ton of water, tell her that she didn't miss much at all.
