Colonels_Wear_Blue
It came up in a football thread that a new turf will not have all of the normal lines you see for soccer. Is that a big deal if it does not? So are go you asking if the pitch is within regulation size parameters if played on the football field using the football sidelines for the soccer game? Yes, they are needed and will be in place. A lot of know nothings on the football thread. Given that the lion's share of obtaining the grant was done by a soccer parent it seems unlikely there would be no soccer lines on the field. They'd lose more in donations over the next 5 years than they saved via the grant if they kept soccer lines off the field.
gameplayedright
Not sure if khsaa has soccer field size guidelines, minimum and maximum width and length. But IMO playing any HS game, freshman, jv or varsity on the width of football field lines would be a mistake for a number of reasons.

I couldn't imagine a football field that also serves as a soccer field NOT having the necessary soccer lines.
gchs_uk9
There are guidelines in place that dictates a minimum size field. Linked are the KHSAA requirements for hosting district, region, and state soccer tournaments. I can't find anything about regular season games. However, the district tournament regulations (most varying) allow for a field anywhere from 55 (football field width) to 80 yards (basically a regulation size soccer field; FIFA requires a width of 70-80 yards). http://khsaa.org/soccer/soccersitespecifications.pdf

Exactly. Who would put a field in like that in this day and age? Lacrosse lines too I believe.

Good picture of Boyle County's combined field. The black lines are for soccer and stretch beyond both sidelines, but from the back of each endzone. Boyle also plays softball at one end of the field, which explains those lines.
TheDeuce
I like the black lines.

From what I understand, the support for the capital fund has far exceeded the initial goal, they have reportedly raised twice as much so far. doubledeuce
I think it is Lex Lafayette that has a huge turf field, with the soccer sidelines seemingly 75 yards wide. Plus, they have an 8 lane track around the field. I think the officials love having the stands that far away!
Yellow Card
Lafayette is one of the larger ones I have seen, very similar in size to the field at Ryle.
bothways
How is this a thread? Yes they need separate lines. They are different sports with completely different markings. The concept of this thread is painfully ignorant.
