Cincinnati protest/riot watch

Recommended Posts

From what I'm hearing it's inevitable for both.

How can the coming protests be dealt with so there is little to no violence? Someone else asked if they will stop protesters from getting onto the interstate this time? I sure in the heck hope so! I will say this, if I'm driving on an interstate and I see a group of people walking on it they may not be alive much longer after I see them. My ONLY priority is the safety for me and anyone in my car, not people walking on an interstate. First, they are on an interstate walking in a group so I see them as possibly not being in the right frame of mind. Thinking that they are not in a right frame of mind would make me think "what are they planning to do to me if I stop?" As well as "if they are crazy enough to walk into an interstate they are crazy enough to damage my car as well as drag me out of it, as well as with anyone else in my car, and harm me/us.

There will be at some who are going to cause trouble, and many of them won't even be from the Cincy area.

Person all I feel that the second that anyone starts walking on the interstate or becomes distructive and or violent, then all bets are off and teargas and rubber bullets should start flying. I pray it doesn't come to that, but you cannot allow that type of lawlessness to get started, as we have seen in other cities that not putting a stop to it immediately only fuels the fire and it gets to a very dangerous level.

So with Deters to give a press conference in a few hours, and an hour after that starts the mayor and police chief will give a joint press conference, will the protests and riots start tonight?

It seems as if they may release the video today, or at least explain what the video shows.

I have been told that agency's have been preparing for this for over a week.

Obviously there is a risk of rioting, but I don't think it'll become a major issue because I expect the police officer to get indicted.

I agree... If it's as bad as it's made out to be, they are going to move swiftly on the officer.

i think the protests will be around campus, but who knows how/where and what the professional protestors will encourage people to do. Deters must indict this guy and let a jury decide, that's the only way out. At least they are letting the vid out before the weekend. Friday night would not be good.

Eliminate the threats and there will be no issues.

I agree. Don't be like places such as Baltimore and allow violence and destruction to happen. If you vice those who want to create havoc any room, they will see that as an open invitation to take much more.

Easy to say, but how do you do that?

I have no doubt that it is the intention of most people to have a peaceful demonstration, and that is their right. However, there will always be those who can't wait to start trouble, and there will always be people who can easily be swayed into joining. Mob mentality is a scary thing.

How do you control a huge group of angry people in a city in the hot days of July?

I sure hope that Mr. Deters has some well chosen, wise words for the city.

I also hope that the black leaders of Cincinnati step forward and make every effort to help keep the peace.
