My initial gut feeling is that yes a big indoor arena is a great idea, but maybe not right there where they're proposing to put it.

Visually what is presently there doesn't feel terribly outdated, or out of place as it fits nicely in the space where it is located, however what is shown in the photo of a new arena in that same location looks to be overcrowded, and too busy to the eye.

I'm thinking that there might be significant spacing west of the Paul Brown Stadium where there is presently much vast wasteland from an industrial past that presently is just a complete eyesore for the city, and that area might be better served with a sparkling new arena, leaving US Bank Arena where it is to serve events not needing the amount of spacing that a larger event would need, giving the city multiple options for where to have certain events depending on how much space is needed for them.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention because I had no idea that they were considering such a project.

Build it ASAP. The existing arena is one step above a junk heap and might be the worst venue in the area.

The design looks nice too.

It looks horrible.

Really wish they would build it for an NBA team. That would actually get me semi interested in the NBA.

Free front row tickets & food couldn't get me to go see that product.

$200 million? Wow, it is needed, but who is going to pay for it. I also think it would be better at another location, much better uses for the current location

It looks horrible.

40 years ago it was considered modern. Some structures of the mid 60's to the mid 70's were also considered modern at the time, but today look hideous and obtrusive, and especially when compared to more classic architectural styles of the past.

This facility, though from that same period of many awful "modern" structures is not exactly a wonder, but it isn't obtrusive or busy either, presenting itself in a simple tidy clean fashion that's not hurtful to the eye.

I saw it when it was first renovated about 20 years ago and it looked pretty good. I was there again about 2 years ago for a Globetrotters game, and I could see where it had become worn through usage.

I've not much doubt that it could be renovated and updated again to bring back a freshness to it.

Not saying it compares to the architectural wonder that is the Union Terminal (Cincy Museum), but when it was 40 years old and train travel had given way to plane travel, the city leaders were ever so close to deeming the building unnecessary, and it was in the plans for the wrecking ball. Thankfully enough others had the vision to keep it, and now you'll probably never find anyone who would disagree with that ultimate decision.

Though the US Bank Arena is not super duper modern like a lot of newer facilities across the nation, it's still a simple style that that wasn't so completely representative of any time period, although obviously post 1970's, but in it's simple tidy clean style it hasn't taken on a look from a modern day perspective as being dreadfully outdated, or a big mistake, at least not to everyone.

I don't think that it looks out of place where it is, and I'd be more interested in seeing a newer bigger structure placed west of the Paul Brown Stadium.

If placed over that way there will obviously need to be consideration for bridges in the area, and the ever on tap important project of replacing the Brent Spence Bridge.

If done properly in conjunction with a new bridge, it could be located in a presently destitute area to spruce that side of the city up, while an Interstate exit could easily lead you right to the facility if by chance you were traveling from out of town to get there.

Also sprucing up that area, which is presently a wasteland could give way to more building of hotels, and that type of business that would help the city's economy, while also extending the city's riverfront even further west, opening doors to further the fine work that they just recently completely making the river front an impressive destination.

Then ultimately by keeping the U.S. Bank Arena and building a new bigger one you have multiple indoor options for different events requiring different amounts of spacing and seating numbers, all the while cleaning up an area of the city that has desperately needed cleaning up for quite a while.

I do find it interesting that the owners of US Bank Arena are talking remodeling. I would be looking for a brand new Arena, after all the other two facilities in the city got what they wanted.

First, where they getting $200+ for a Reno? Then ask where they are getting the 400+ to build from scratch. You still will never get a major league tenant but will get bigger acts for entertainment and an occasional NCAA bid.

They have pro teams. Big difference.
