Guy was gone for nearly 30 years of self-imposed exile. Here's a concert after his return.

 

Always liked the two little acoustic ditties on Jethro Tull's classic "Aqualung" - Cheap Day Return and Wond'ring Aloud.

 

My thoughts immediately went to Aqualung, also. "Wind up" & "Locomotive Breath" are both awesome (as is most of the album).

Little side story that you may or may not find fun:

 

Never cared for JT much when I was a child and first learning about classic rock when it was current via my uncle's record collection. I was ambivalent toward Ian Anderson.

 

Then, I went off to college at WKU, and there was this guy in a late-60s black Cutlass Supreme who would ride around campus all day long blaring that infernal flute at you while you were walking to and fro. I loathed hearing him coming, and I loathe Jethro Tull.

"Carry on My Wayward Son" came from the album "Leftoverture". My favorites from it are "Miracles Out of Nowhere", "Cheyenne Anthem", and "The Wall"

 

"Relentless" from "Audio Visions" which contained the single "Hold On".

 

"Nobody's Home" and "Sparks of the Tempest" from "Point of Know Return", from which chart singles "Portrait (He Knew)" and "Dust in the Wind" appeared.

 

The only song to appear on the charts from "Monolith" was "People of the South Wind". My favorites are "On the Other Side" and "Reason to Be".

 

Just a bit of trivia. The song "Portrait (He Knew)", that many thought was describing Jesus Christ, was actually written about Albert Einstein.

This on off of "The Best of Kansas", was written and performed by then-lead vocalist John Elefante, LOVE IT!

 

Funny how this video was just put up on youtube within the hour that I post this....I was the 1st to view it.

 

I'm going to have to go with The Rolling Stones Blinded By Rainbows. Dropkick Murphys Forever, The Dirty Glass and Forever.

I dig that tune too, and "Isn't Life Strange" from the same release always made the goose bumps form, and especially when hearing it live.

 

I've always dug the contributions that Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas brought to the band, and nothing against Justin Hayward or John Lodge, as I'm thankful that they carried on for so long, but there's a certain philosophical depth that left with their departures that completed the whole experience.
