I too think Ryle is the team to beat in 6a. They have a big time QB and a very good RB. Line play may be a problem but other 6a schools also have this issue.

Side note. The Cooper team that played Dixie last year must not have been the same one that played Ryle. Ryle gave dixie more problems than SK did last year.

It was different meaning to the games. Ryle was first game of the season and a big cross town rival. Dixie was last game of the season after Cooper already had their seeding locked up in the playoffs and played a lot of backups to stay healthy going into playoffs. Ryle bs Dixie was also a district game for the 2 teams.

I watched them this past weekend at 7 vs 7. I know, I know....It's 7 v 7. However, Morgan was getting the ball off quick. His throws were on point, as the WRs were breaking into their patterns, the ball was there. If he can get the ball off in under 2 1/2 seconds that will REALLY REALLY help the line. You mentioned 1 RB, they have 4-5 viable running backs (England, McGregor, Bateman, Chisholm among others. Two solid TEs in Penick and Long. A bunch of quick WRs, Ashley is as tough as they come, Cusick, Wright. O'hara looked good at WR when he wasn't getting his snaps at QB. My point, if the QB's get the ball of as they are breaking into their routes, the Line can hold up. College D Lines have a hard time getting to QBs in under 3 seconds. Morgan will do his part by getting the ball off quickly.

It has nothing to do with the football program. Scott has lost several guys to other sports. For example, Jake Ohmer is a high level basketball and baseball player, that has devoted his time to those two sports. There are several other basketball players that have given up football, and one other solid kid this year that has decided to focus on wrestling. All these guys while good football players, have a solid chance to continue at the next level in those other sports. In reality, it's not like there are bunches of kids that have walked away from the program, and the hallways aren't crawling with kids that would make a big impact on the football team. You also have to remember, Scott has had a very good Soccer program over the last 7-8 years, and has very good numbers....so some of those very good athletes have never played football. That combined with the drop in enrollment, limits the number of kids available to play football. The Taylor Mill Eagles have only been around for 5 years now, and none of the current classes at Scott spent more than a year or two in that organization...the sophomore class was the inaugural class. The kids that have grown up in the organization are just now in Middle School, and hopefully we will see the impact in numbers over the next 2-3 years as those kids enter Scott.

 

Scott Football is still in the very early stages of revival. Building a program from where it was takes more than a couple of years. This year is a key year, as they return more talent than they've ever had, and have stepped up the schedule pretty significantly. A district title and a playoff win or two would be a nice, solid next step in the evolution, and if everything goes really well, a deep playoff run (which is possible) could really set them up for even longer term success.

I couldn't agree more on this year being very key on the Eagles success radar . They have been very successful, the past 2 seasons and I feel with this group of seniors and supporting classes . I sure hope for the best for the Eagles !!
