AAU State Tournament

Featured Replies

I think you have to pass the favorites role to the west , East hasnt played in 3 weeks because of proms and will not be at full strength, Shining Stars brings

a 21-4 record into the game and I think Bluegrass Stars is the team that beat the d-1 grehounds in Fort Wayne? Not 100 per cent sure on that one, if someone could clarify I would appreciate it, but the 2nd pool should have some tough games in it

According to the website the Kentuck Hoopstars beat:

North East Ohio All Stars 63-62

Ball Above All 57-54

Iowa Barnstormers 82-79

Illinios Fire 84-69

They lost to King James 102-84

I know they were shorthanded with only five players.

The Kentucky Hoopstars White team beat the second D-1 Greyhounds team in pool play.

I meant the Varisty State Tourney that is held the 15th-18th at the KBA

I went ahead and started a thread on this tourney too. Does anyone know the teams in that one?

We are up to over 65 Varsity and JV teams in the Boys at this time. This is the 30th Anniversary for KY AAU Basketball. Varsity Boys and Girls teams were let in free this year like the Middle School State Tournament and thats the way it will stay here on out. Bringing a JV team will be only $100.00. The Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Camp will be doing the Officials this year. We lost about 5 teams that got mad and went to Franklin Co Team Camp this year and it seems to of been because of the poor officiating from the camp last year. Hopefully we will get them back next year and I think we will. We are already up 17 teams from last year and there is a lot of new faces. Here are some of the boys teams. Bryan Station, LCA, South Laurel, Bourbon, Lincoln, Hazard, Harlan, Southwestern, Fern Creek, Lou. Central. Shawnee, Moore, Scott Co., St X, Bell Co, Pineville, Shelby Co. Garrad Co.

Boyle Co. Hart Co. Beechwood, Conner, Grant Co, Perry Co.Central, Corbin

Wayne Co.

I feel like we will get up to around 75 teams before the deadline.

Add Buckhorn ,Casey Co, Cawood. Looking forward to the All-Stars next weekend. Moving it off Derby weekend two years ago really helped.

In the Boys 16 Division, I would think that the defending state champs, the N. Ky Hawks and Derek Smith All-Stars would be favorites. I don't know anything about pool 3 teams: Charlotte court, Quinn Anvils, and N. Ky Royals. Does anyone have any info?

I know the N.K.Y Hawks are undefeated this year so far playing up in the 17-18 yr old division so they could very likely be the favorite to win the 16 yr old division very easily.

The Hawks got beat yesterday in Florence by the N. Ky Jazz, which is another 16 & U team.

I heard that Arrez Henderson for the Hawks has a broken ankle or foot and will be out for sometime.

Wow i hadn't heard anything about that...when did he do that? The Hawks are a completely different team without henderson in the lineup..What was the score of their loss yesterday?

I don't know the exact score of the Jazz & Hawks, but heard the Jazz won by 8 points.

I don't know the details about Henderson, just heard from someone that said he was in a cast and broke either his ankle or foot.

With A. Henderson being injured and out for a while, that will definitely effect the Hawks chances of winning. Also, Holmes h.s. in June for the high school championship in Lexington. He's a special player and hate to hear it.

I know absolutely nothing about AAU, but are most of the teams all star squads? I know when I played most of the teams were actual HS teams. When we got through our pool (Corbin, PRP, St. X) we were lucky enough to face off with Lexington Salvation Army (Nimbo Hammonds, Corey Williams and many more.

It has been awhile for you neerfan. They both have had their own tournament for at least ten years now. This made a better more fair tournament.

I was out at Mt. zion yesterday and watched some AAU ball before my boys team played. I saw Joe Rice playing with a group called the Cougers. He was running the point and they were playing a team called the Lakers. He looked decent but a little too much showboat.... I almost asked someone where the COUGERS were from but didnt bother. I didnt recognize the team as a NKY squad and there were no other HOLMES players on that team that I recognized.
