A true business man who would try to run the company as a business. I wonder if he knows how hard it will be for him to fight through the politics of the job.

It's about time the American people got fed up with politicians getting rich off our backs. If Donald Trump gets that movement going, more power to him.

 

I don't think he's going to win but I like that he's stirring things up!

 

To me that's the biggest thing Trump has done. He has, at least for now, forced his opponents to be less policially correct. He's telling it as he sees it. You may not like it and may not agree with it, but it is getting the discussions started.

Don't ever remember hearing specifics in a debate so I wouldn't count on it now.

 

You're not wrong that these are geared to be superficial platitude-fests. But, you do have to speak reasonably enough to not look moronic (see: Rick Perry's disastrous performance last cycle; "uhhhh oops?").

 

Last night O'Reilly asked Trump the obvious question (I'm paraphrasing all of this from memory): "You said you'll get Mexico to pay for a border wall, how are you going to do that?"

 

DT: "This is easy. China has a wall. This is peanuts compared to that one."

 

BO: "OK. But how are you going to get Mexico to pay for it?"

 

DT: "Mexico is making a killing off of us. They are actually much smarter than we are. Our negotiators are getting taken advantage of. I've run many successful businesses."

 

BO: "OK. But how are you going to get Mexico to pay for it?"

 

DT: "Do you know how much trade goes across the border? They are making a killing. This wall is peanuts compared to that."

 

Then BO lets him off the hook. If Trump does that tomorrow I don't think he'll be leading in the polls much longer (and if he does my view on the Trump candidacy will change). I'm sure the other contestants (er, candidates) won't be as jovial about it as BO was.

I just looked at various articles that say the US gives close to $100MM annually to Mexico. Tie giving them any money to them paying or helping to pay for the wall...

He will fall off, because the press and his not being a politician will get him in the end.

 

 

He is saying what some Americans are thinking though.
