Okay. But I have. The bigger point that I think we can kind of agree on is...

Since no one suggests that robbery, murder, pre-marital sex, divorce, lying, or other such sins are a manifestation of one's genetic traits those sins are not the focus of Christians. I was responding to the claim that Christian's focus so much on homosexuality while not focusing on all the other sins that people commit.

No, I don't think that we can agree because I don't understand your reasoning. Maybe I just need you to explain it to me differently. My understanding of what you are saying is that people don't argue about the sins that are definitely not genetic traits. But, that doesn't make sense to me. Why aren't people scared for our county as a result of premarital sex or divorce, but only same sex marriage?

I have never heard that. What is your source?

I'll try and look it up. Maybe it's changed.

To be fair I shouldn't have made it a statement of fact. I honestly read that but not sure where.

I think we are scared for those things but it is not publicized by the media. Churches in general worry about those things in sunday school classes, bible studies, or sermons.

Here is an interesting point, the North american Christian Convention was in Cincinnati last week and annually brings 20,000 people to the city and convention center. At the same time there was a Christian Women's Conference at US Bank Arena where 7000 women attended. The newspaper or TV did not mention either event despite the fact 27,000 people were visiting, spending money, and enjoying our city. But the Gay Pride parade that (according to what I heard on the TV) had a whopping 600 people either on fountain square or marching, received almost as much press as the Police Officer funeral.

So back to your point, I think the church is also afraid of those other sins, but they are not highly publicized and no one ever suggests that divorce, drug use, or pre-marital sex is good. No one ever suggests that the Bible neglects to address those issues.

I could not attend this year's Gay Pride parade and festival, but considering it was held one day after the Supreme Court's decision, and estimates say that this year's attendance at the festival was Cincinnati's largest ever at 60,000, I have no problem believing that to be true.

Because...

I have been to it the last few years and I can assure you that Sawyer Point was jammed packed with people in the hundreds of thousands.

It's a serious high profile event with the city welcoming on the P&G Main stage national and international musical headliners.

I've experienced both watching the parade at Fountain Square in 2012, and waiting for it to finish at Sawyer Point in 2013, and 2014, and in both places the streets were jammed with enthusiastic rainbow flag waving parade goers.

The numbers of people in the parade far outnumbered 600, and the numbers watching where in the thousands.

After the parade is over there is an all day festival at Sawyer Point where you then really get a good idea just how many thousands of people are in attendance. It rivals any of the major Sawyer Point events held throughout the year.

Now if you want to rewind about 25 years ago, I actually marched in my one time ever Cincinnati Pride parade where there might've been about 300 of us and only a handful of people on the streets in support.

I can assure you since that Cincinnati Pride has come a long way and it is without a doubt a VERY LARGE event attracting thousands upon thousands.

Your "Whopping 600" estimate is a complete laugh, and it's funny how people with a certain agenda to slant and sway people's perceptions will filter information the way they see fit to better support their cause.

Add a couple of zeros to that estimate and you'd be closer to accurate.

As Ron Swanson would say, "I'm a simple man. I like pretty, dark-haired women and breakfast food."

For the life of me I don't think I ever made that choice which is why I believe that homosexuals did not make that choice either. Which is one of the reasons they have my full support.

I don't think anyone is asking what the Bible addresses. The question was why those things do not bring out the fervor that same sex marriage brings in people. Aren't they equal sins?

Also, people always complain about what the media reports. They report what we ultimately will buy into. They go where the controversy is or will be.

I think they do bring out the fervor, it is just that the secular world does not see it. We all agree that divorce, generally speaking, is bad.We all agree that drug use is bad. I think we all agree that promiscuity is bad.

The secular world however is trying to say that homosexuality is not bad, so there in lays the argument.

Everyone falls somewhere on a Straight/Gay scale of 0-10. There really are no 100% 0's and no 100% 10's, as much as all of us straight males want to pretend we do.

I am not sure if you are saying that all straight men have at least some little inkling of gay in them or not but if you are, you are wrong. I am 110% hetero and I am not saying that to be macho or anything. I also have nothing against gay people - I really don't. However, I have never had any sort of urge of any type toward another male for one millisecond. I am not alone in that either.

You say that Christians do bring out the fervor on such things as divorce etc... but the secular world doesn't see it.

Why not?

This is pretty much the point that's being made here by others that you've been denying all along.

As an example, all the fundamental Christians posting here have been going out of their minds and up in arms condemning homosexuality, yet have barely scratched the surface on more heterosexual "sinful" items found in your Bible.

With there being far more heterosexuals in the world, there's likely more of these things you'd consider to be a sin happening, yet they don't seem to get the same reaction of Christians being so appalled.

The fundamentals have been having a field day here posting against homosexuality like it's their job, and nothing's stopping them also if they happened to feel so obligated to scorn pre-marital sex and divorce, yet ...hear that... a pin has dropped... where's the fervor...no one's stopping you?

At the end of the day the point that's being made here that fundamental Christians are obsessed with scorning homosexuals while not so much straights for their offenses is pretty clear here, and while you've been denying this you also say that the fervor is there, but the secular world just doesn't see it.

Why not?

That's speaking out of both sides of your mouth.

The floor has been yours, and your pals to condemn homosexuals, yet ...hear that...another pin has dropped....nary any sound made against straight "sinners".

Why do you guys all seem to talk in circles and dance away from questions by trying to twist a topic when you are cornered by inadequacies in your postings?

Can you at least once just buck up and admit it sometimes when your words don't add up... it sure would save a lot of endless babble, and the ugliness of watching you squirm. It's really isn't pretty.

I am not at all squirming. I do not feel in the least bit uncomfortable. I know what I believe and why. But right now we are talking about homosexuality or whether or not straight men choose to be straight.

What do you want to talk about?

Divorce: God says he hates it but he considers himself a divorced person in Hosea. He uses Hose's marriage to Gomer to describe how ISrael has divorced him. God hates it when people get divorced but Jesus clarifies that marital unfaithfulness is a reason to be divorced.

Drug Use: While drunkenness is discussed, I do not see a direct command about drug use. I believe it is a sin, not because of Corinthians calling the "Body the temple of the Lord" but because we are commanded to not be a stumbling block to others and the follow the laws of the land. I do not want to see Marijuana legalized.

Pre-marital Sex: Bible discusses sexual immorality all over the place. As a society and as a church we have not done a good job teaching these principles out of fear of stepping on people's toes.

What do you want to discuss? MY words do indeed add up and I am not afraid to discuss issues. But I challenge you to find 3 judgmental posts that I have made in the last year. I do not think you can find even 1 but sometimes my sarcasm goes too far, so I challenge you to find three.

I have never scorned anyone in this thread. I am very conscientious about that because I was more of a zealot ten years ago and I am not proud of it.

Doesn't the secular world also say that divorce and premarital sex are not bad? That's a very weak argument.

You are again missing the point (imagine that).

You can now address those other "sins" all that you want since you've been put on the spot to, but the point that fundamental Christians in general make WAY more of homosexuality than anything else is still painfully obvious, and the thing that you've spent far too many posts trying to deny.

Then you say that fundamental Christians do, but the secular word doesn't see it, which actually verifies the claim that they are more vocal to the secular world about homosexuality.

Do you not see your double talk?

Not only that...the claim of fundamental Christians obsessing over homosexuality WAY more than anything else was not specifically directed at you by whoever here first said it. They were directing it in general about fundamental Christians.

Dead on my Brother...So many Christians today are blind to their own hypocrisy that they don't even know it.

I am a Christian that sees exactly what you are talking about.:thumb:

Do you not see your double talk?

I guess I don't. So please do this for me. I promise that this is in no way meant to be condescending although I seem to have this affect.

Please ask me a question that I have seemingly danced around. I want to answer it. I know you do not owe me this at all. Bit please do it anyway.

No choice here. I was hitting on the nurse in the delivery room. The nurse was a she.
