Yes, they have a right to be there as they are hurting too, but if was me I would have stayed away and have friends, family, and their pastors come to them, but that's just me. All I know is that some undercover guys went to the side of the building, then about a minute later the father started screaming at people, including officers, he had to be held back. It lasted about 3 or 4 minutes. From what I hear is one someone asked the father why he was there, and that then the father went off. There was one news station on the other side of the street who I thought got some of it. And some guy had a cell phone out recording it, not sure who he was or if it was uploaded anywhere.

Yes, he came back after a few moments and made peace. Jeff Ruby was there mediating, yes, I am serious. I was told that the father and a few others left with Ruby on his bus.

The Queen City Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 69 will hold services at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Cintas Center at 11 a.m. Friday, followed by a procession to the Gate of Heaven Cemetery for burial.

June 21, 201511 yr Hindsight is 20/20 but I wonder why they didn't send more people or considered a SWAT team. Any LE have opinions on this? The call was a man in the street waving a gun. I don't know how many "subjects with a gun" I've seen, but vast majority are either people legally open carrying or kids with BB guns. Takes a minimum of 45 minutes to get a swat team together for a mission.

Much different from an open carry situation, officer Kim's response time was 25 alone.

In most cities 25 minutes would be completely unacceptable. Right now response times are the least of CPD's problems.

As for the response time in this case if it was 25 minutes that would seem excessive, especially if there were multiple calls. As Rocket said, calling SWAT out isn't practical in most active situations unless there is a stand off...it just takes too long.

June 21, 201511 yr Citizen priority of life is ahead of officer life. And I can't imagine why 25 minutes was the response time. That response time should be 5 minutes tops
