I do believe they gave him his money back. Moral of the story, you can go there, but don't have any delusions that the 1st Amendment allows you to speak your mind there.

June 12, 201511 yr You sure that's all he was doing? Positive, not a violent guy at all. Extremely intelligent and very well versed on religion and science.
June 12, 201511 yr Author So, you're telling me he got kicked out by acting respectfully? Come on. I'm not buying that.
June 12, 201511 yr So, you're telling me he got kicked out by acting respectfully? Come on. I'm not buying that. I do. It is a private organization with the right to remove anyone they see fit so long as it doesn't affect the civil rights of protected classes which this would not. If someone came to my gun range and started talking about guns being the result kids dying and other bullcrap, respectful or not, the other members and myself would escort this person to the front gate and wave good bye as they left or call the police to have them escort them out. June 12, 201511 yr I do. It is a private organization with the right to remove anyone they see fit so long as it doesn't affect the civil rights of protected classes which this would not. If someone came to my gun range and started talking about guns being the result kids dying and other BS, respectful or not, the other members and myself would escort this person to the front gate and wave good bye as they left or call the police to have them escort them out. So causing a scene. That's not acting respectful. I'd imagine what this guy did was similar.
June 12, 201511 yr Author I'm not saying that he couldn't be removed, or that he wasn't removed, only that he didn't come in there with a sign that said "atheist" and they kicked him out. I'm not buying that someone could peacefully, respectfully go there and just get das boot for no reason.

And I believe they have their own police force. Maybe they were too aggressive. Why does it always have to be the citizens fault, why can the police take some responsibility?

Why does it always have to be the citizens fault, why can the police take some responsibility? I think you're reaching. I'm saying I don't buy that he was just peacefully tooling thru the exhibits and he was booted out the club for no reason. Why do you find it hard to believe it wasn't the citizen? So, you think the police were the issue? Really?

June 12, 201511 yr I'd be curious how many who have faith have gone. I have never had an inkling of desire to see what they have out there.
June 12, 201511 yr Author I'd be curious how many who have faith have gone. I have never had an inkling of desire to see what they have out there. I went the day it opened. I thought it was pretty neat. Lots of young earth stuff I don't agree with much but still, lots of cool stuff.
June 12, 201511 yr Toured the museum a few years back out of general curiosity. Some stuff was humorous, like dinosaurs climbing aboard the ark. Some stuff was wrong -- "Here I stand" was not part of Luther's 95 theses. Thought the names of some coffee drinks were humorous -- "Give me a 'John 3:16 latte,' please." My general impression was that this was the type of place that would appeal to people like the Duggars, religious home-schoolers, etc. Thought the exhibits themselves were fairly well thought-out and constructed. I can see where some people would be asked to leave for vocalizing their opinions. Question for Catholic parents: Do Catholic schoolkids regularly tour the museum as part of school curriculum? If not, why not?
