mcpapa Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Panther brass is obviously convinced that he's their guy!
littleluck55 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Obviously you only have to be an average quarterback in this league to make a fortune.
Jim Schue Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Obviously you only have to be an average quarterback in this league to make a fortune. Ain't like Cam Newton gets a lot of help in the offense. They're just taking care of their meal ticket.
Bengal Maniac Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 If you look at Newton's, Dalton's and Tanneyhill's stats their 1st three seasons they are scary similar except for Cam's rushing yards. Cam gets 60+M guaranteed, Tanneyhill 45M guaranteed, and Dalton 17M guaranteed. Looks like the Bengals got a huge bargain with AD.
Getslow Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 He's finally going to make as much money as he did playing for Auburn.
Clyde Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 $60M guaranteed - largest guarantee ever $67M over the first 3 years His 2015 cap number went down by $1.6M.
Clyde Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 He's finally going to make as much money as he did playing for Auburn. The "bag man" is going to need some help.
Clyde Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 If there is EVER a contract to show just how important the QB position is in the NFL it's this one. By NFL standards, Cam is close to average yet the Panthers believe it is so difficult to find a really good QB that they overpay to keep him. It's why there is a cottage industry for QB gurus.
Clyde Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Side note: Congrats to Cam on earning his degree this spring. That will help him down the road.
Clyde Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 Video of Andrew Luck when he was told about Newton's new deal:

Again, Cam's numbers are very AD like, except rushing yards and TD's. That's worth a little, but not 40M more than AD.
littleluck55 Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 It's easy to say replace your qb but there are not 32 great quarterbacks out there. You have to overpay for an average quarterback.
