I will add, I had a slightly similar dealing with Carroll County PD several years ago. I see their cavalier attitude towards the mentally ill hasn't changed. I know why you did it. In the article, it's the Carrollton PD that is at fault here. The Carroll Co. Sheriff's Office had nothing to do with it, other than going to Fla. to pick the guy up, which they are billing Carrollton PD for.

I misidentified the name of the PD which led to the false assumption I was talking about the SO and not the PD.
May 30, 201511 yr The officers are very lucky this man did not harm himself or anyone else. Sadly, busing mentally ill people to other cities is not new. We often get patients straight off the Greyhound Bus. Usually it is families that do the though. The fact that these officers openly defied a judges's order is unbelieveable.

I believe this is why Santa Monica is called "The Home of The Homeless."
May 31, 201511 yr And now they had to charge him with a new crime in order to extradite him to Kentucky. The offense? Escape from jail, a felony. So a question for the legal eagles out there...is aiding and abetting in someone committing a felony automatically a felony itself? Also, is it necessary for the individual to be found guilty in order for the cops to be prosecuted? In other words, if a jury finds him not guilty, could the cops say that no crime (as far as aiding an escape) was committed then?

August 11, 201511 yr Makes you wonder how many times they got away with it. I wonder what these officers could be charged with? If he can be charged with escape, can't they be charged with aiding and abetting the escape of a prisoner? You would be amazed at how many family members put mentally ill relatives on a long bus ride. Happens more often than you think.
