Coach Tony Hardin does it again! Congrats to the Lady Cru on the state championship.

What happened with the 4x100 relay? I did not see St Henry girls listed.

It is hard to believe Brossart can't field a top notch football team. The athletes are there and this is the proof for anyone who doubts it. Congrats to the Mustangs on the state title.

Brossart also has a very strong cross country team as well.

Thanks, mcpapa. :thumb:

Is this the first year its been at UK?

It was held there last year!

The fastest 100m times where in the 10.7s makes me wonder how accurate they are. I know FSU Jalen Ramsey ran a 10.8 for FSU and I read Deon Sanders ran a 10.4 his first time runninh 100 meters.

Timing is done using FAT (Fully Automatic Timing) and is very accurate. The clock starts using a sensor from starting pistol. A finish line camera is then used to mark the time of the runners as they cross the finish line. It's a photo finish that they can forward through a progression to record all runners of a heat.

The guys running 10.7 at the HS level are really moving!

It is incredibly difficult to field a strong cross country, soccer, and football team at a school of this size. With that being said, I think Coach Wiggins is doing an excellent job...it is just difficult when so few kids are being split so many ways.

It's only boring if you only care about an event your athlete is involved in. Track meets can be long but if you pay attention (as in any sport) there are races, and moments that are extremely exciting. What a thrill to see a kid put in a PR, whether running or jumping or throwing. Watching two or three athletes battle it out around the track is fun to watch. This weekend Stewart from Cooper ran the two mile (I think). He led the whole way... three of them were fighting for position. Every time a kid tried to pass him he picked up the pace to make them settle in behind him... until the last turn when the kid from ? had a little more in the tank and won the race going down the stretch. But I'll tell you, that was an exciting race and it was a 3200 M. I'll bet Stewarts coach and family were proud of how he battled. I know I was.

Jaron hit the 47' 9" on his 2nd jump. To my knowledge, no one else in the state had been over 47' this year but him. The way the triple jump and long jump events are structured, all the athletes jump 3 times. After everyone has 3 jumps in, the top guys get 3 more jumps. Defending triple jump state champ Robbie Lofton was sitting in 2nd place but between the first three jumps and the finals I believe he ran in a relay race and you can see that his last 3 jumps were not really near his 46' 2nd place jump. Jaren chose to save his legs for the long jump which took place after the triple, but kept an eye on the triple in case he needed to jump there.

The jumpers really have it rough trying to get all their jumps in around the other events they may be participating in. It would make it difficult to be rested and at their best.

Yep. Throwers don't generally have the same difficulties, as extremely few are sprinters and even fewer are distance runners. But it's very tough on jumpers who have to dash off from one event to another - often returning to jump immediately after finishing a sprint.

Thank you to paNDA for his great pics. Always a good eye and timing.

Here's a link to my hobbyist hack photos. It is a Dixie Heights site...the second half of the album has more NKY Athlete pics.

Best wishes and continued success to all the Senior athletes. All of you made us proud this season! :thumb:

Brossart also has a very strong cross country team as well.

2 former CC runners from Brossart are running for NKU.

All races are electronically timed...so how much more accurate would one be looking for. No more hand timing and calculated wind aided races make the numbers pretty solid.
