BubbyKY
Congrats to Quinton Baker with the win in both the 100/200. Erpenbeck finishes a very close second in both events. Veneman wins 400. From a brief look at the times, looks like there were some very exciting races, especially the 400. Congrats to Quinton and all NKY athletes. Content1
Unfortunately work prevented me from making the AA meet. Sounds like there were some amazing performances. Congrats again to all our NKY athletes. Shuley steals show with 3 titles
mcpapa
An exciting day in 2A. As is often the case, the meet came down to the 4X400 (boys - North Oldham was dominant on the girls' side). Paducah-Tilghman won the race by a couple of seconds over Highlands, and won the team title by one point. North Oldham 58.5; 5. Paducah Tilghman 53.5; 6. Holmes 36; 7. Boyle County 32; 8. Elizabethtown 28.5; 9. South Warren 23.6; 10. John Hardin 21 And here are yesterday's top ten finishers: 1) Paducah Tilghman 81 2) Highlands 80 3) Lexington Catholic 66 4) North Oldham 65 5) Covington Catholic 56 6) South Warren 38 7) Elizabethtown 28 8) Boyle County 27 9) John Hardin 26 10) Mason County
mcpapa
And a shout-out to Mason County's Jay Stanley, who picked the right time to come up with what had to be PRs (or close to them), winning the shot put and finishing second in the discus.

Were there some kids that didn't perform up to standards in Regionals or maybe missed regionals for PT? That seems like a huge jump. All other teams pretty much finished as projected. Just wondering. Clyde
I saw where the CCH 4x100 team won the title and I think a kid from CCH won the shotput or discus. Congrats to all participants.

Were there some kids that didn't perform up to standards in Regionals or maybe missed regionals for PT? That seems like a huge jump. All other teams pretty much finished as projected. Just wondering. Combination of factors. Sometimes a kid or relay team simply hits their stride at the right time. Another factor is "coasting" in the relays at regionals, then putting your "A team" on the track at state. That happens a lot. You can't substitute for individuals; whoever qualifies at regionals goes on to state. Let's say that you can win a regional 4X100 without using your top two sprinters; so you run your #3-6 sprinters in that race. At state, you run your #1-4 guys. Totally on the up-and-up. But you better run your top two 100 guys at regional in the individual event, because they have the best shot at state. And you can't substitute for them when they get to state. Clyde
So in the 4x200 CCH was the favorite and had a big lead heading into the last runner (Erpenbeck). Dropped baton. CCH doesn't win. PT got the two points they needed to win the state title.

Voice of Reason
That 2A meet sounds like it was about as exciting as a track meet can ever get. I bet the crowd was going crazy during that last race.
