Braves @ Reds (5/11 - 5/13)

Iglesias has some nasty stuff. That being said, he is an elbow injury waiting to happen IMO. He puts A TON of pressure on his elbow with that delivery. I hope I am wrong but I think he will have elbow issues sooner or later.

I wouldn't put a whole lot into this type performance happening on a consistent basis, opposing teams never play well in the final game of a 4 game stand away from home and the crowd was what, around 15,000?, not much pressure. That being said, like his stuff and he is a keeper.

Frazier always hits bombs, one-handed,check swing, you name it. He will easily win Home Run Derby this year in GABP

I don't know about that. Stanton hit one completely out of Dodger Stadium on Tuesday evening.

@LRCW do you want to jump back in for the four game series? My last four game series was just mediocre.

So assuming the Reds keep him up, do you keep him in the rotation or in the pen?

Pen. Middle relief. Wouldn't be mad if rotation, though

I think you start him until he reaches his innings limit or gets close and then shut him down or move him to the pen. They are going to be out of the race at that point anyway most likely.

Rotation, move Marquis to the pen.

No, you won the series. Keep at it.

Rotation, move Marquis to the pen.

That would be the smart move, but you and I both know that won't happen.

Yep. It makes sense for multiple reasons, the most glaring being that no one actually thinks Marquis is going to last the entire year in the rotation.

Once Iglesias or Lorenzen hit their innings limit, you pull Marquis back into the rotation if need be.

You've got other arms in the system that can come up and get some late year big league experience as another option (Sampson, Moscot, Axelrod, etc.).

As I have posted several times on here, bring your 12 best arms to the fight. He is in the top 12, I dont even think Lorenzen and Iglesias are our best two from Louisville. If the Reds start hitting they will be fine, might slip in as the wild card. They play great defense and it keeps them in games. Glad Lorenzen, and Iglesias are up. Nice to see Cingranni looking good, we have better young arms than we think we do, its exciting to see them learning and getting better instead of Gregg/Badenhop, even though I think Badenhop comes around

Despite how poor he's been this year, and given how desperate the Reds have been for any kind of production from LF, Byrd is on pace to hit 33 HRs, and knock in 91. Those would be welcome numbers.

Of course, his analytics suck and he's currently also on pace to get 610 PAs, which means his $8M option for next year would vest.

My guess is the Reds are hesitant on bringing the others young up at the same time so they don't have all their pitchers hitting free agency at the same time like they did this year.

They have 4 off days in the next 18 days. I would expect them to send Iglesias down since he would not be available for a few days and since a 5th starter is not needed (they are off next Monday and Thursday) for a while. Lorenzen may end up in the bullpen during this time also.
