People are way to fixated in D1.

Hagen pretty much left the NKY program when Bezold was let go. There was never a hesitation. At Campbellsville he will be starting college with two of his friends that also were on the Boyle basketball team in Chapman Bean and Zach Leigh and he'll be joining his former Boyle teammate, Micah Satterly on the basketball team. Hagen will have familiarity and comfort at Campbellsville and for a kid who knows what his future can and will hold I am very proud of his decision. I look forward to watching him at Campbellsville.

 

There are quite a few kids from Boyle County attending Campbellsville. I think he made an excellent choice.

Why is it D1 or bust? IMO I believe a lot of people, "experts" and not so much "experts" think most kids can play D1. This is simply not the case. Also, if a kid gets his/her college paid for who cares where they will play...meaning on what level they play. Tyler Hagen is a good player...a great high school player. Again, IMO, I believe he is playing at the right level for him. I saw him play several times and in the long run he will have a fantastic career at CU. Wish him the best!

Hagen could play at the D1 level if he chose to. There were D1 schools calling right up until the last day. He just chose what he wanted to do. Big difference.

If Hagen is happy with his decision, that is what matters the most. Too many times these kids are pressured into situations by everyone else that think they know what is best for the athlete. He is going to be close to home where family and friends can see him play in a good program and a competitive league. I respect him for making that decision.
