April 30, 201511 yr LF simply isn't that difficult to play fellas. He's more than athletic enough to get it done there. Runs well, throws well. Situationally is sound. I'd trot his hind end somewhere to shag ball after ball. With all due respect to the folks on this board, I can say with assurance, you don't have to be an elite athlete to adequately play the easiest of the 9 positions defensively. Manny did it for years. Hamilton being beside him in center would make it even easier.
April 30, 201511 yr .... Some concern around the Reds that Meso may never be able to catch again, at least full-time. Oops. Hmm didnt a say this like 2 weeks ago.......................................................
April 30, 201511 yr Mesoracos bat is too good for them not to find a spot in the field for him. Makes me kinda disappointed though as a huge Meso fan.
April 30, 201511 yr I understand, but he IS an athlete and I think it's worth a shot for 3rd or LF. Otherwise, offer him up but there won't be many takers if at all with his current issues and contract. It's a shame what's going on physically with him because I like the kid, he's a gamer. I like him as well, have always said he, Votto,Frazier and Hamilton were the only untradeable Reds in my opinion
May 1, 201511 yr Author Hmm didnt a say this like 2 weeks ago....................................................... I don't know, but if you did, you were spot on. His hip has a major issue.
May 1, 201511 yr Same thing Tulo went through right? If so... Agree with those on here that say get him on the 60 day and start making that transition to LF.
May 4, 201511 yr Mesoracos bat is too good for them not to find a spot in the field for him. Makes me kinda disappointed though as a huge Meso fan. Hasnt he really only shown he can hit for one season. Still need to see more to know for sure his bat will be any better than other guys who we first thought would be top hitters.
May 4, 201511 yr Hasnt he really only shown he can hit for one season. Still need to see more to know for sure his bat will be any better than other guys who we first thought would be top hitters. He's always hit the ball hard throughout his career, that's all I need to see. It was only a matter of time till the numbers showed it and last year was the year.
May 4, 201511 yr Definitely could see Meso playing outfield. He's a better athlete than some on this thread are giving him credit I think (I don't follow the Reds). But I do know that Atlanta put Gattis at LF for a while and if he can do it, Meso can. Another thing, what about the Winker kid? Seems to be a highly regarded prospect and with Devin out in LF next season seems like he'll be blocked again. Is he further off than I'm thinking?
