April 29, 201511 yr With temperatures warming and the first flowers starting to sprout here in Indiana, IU Athletic Director Fred Glass is feeling optimistic that maybe—just maybe—the Hoosiers’ hoops rivalry with the University of Kentucky can be renewed. There appears to be reason for optimism. Kentucky officials confirmed this week to the IBJ that conversations between the two schools have recently taken place about reviving one of the biggest rivalries in men's college basketball. Though Glass said nothing is imminent, he’s hopeful a deal can get done. IU, Kentucky in talks to renew storied basketball rivalry | 2015-04-29 | Indianapolis Business Journal | IBJ.com
April 29, 201511 yr Author Per the article, UK (Cal) wants to keep the series at neutral sites, while IU wants at least some games at Assembly Hall. Also per the article, if a game is to be scheduled by this year, a deal would have to be done within 90 days.

April 29, 201511 yr Why don't they just do a rotation with 2 home games and 2 neutral site games in a 4 year stretch. Or 2 home and 1 neutral where the neutral rotates.
April 29, 201511 yr If IU doesn't back down on the home and home part of it this won't get done IMO. Or Cal can back down off the idea that they have to be at neutral sites. Play a home and home and one neutral. That's still two games where UK will probably have the advantage in crowd size.

We all want what's best for the program. If Cal says neutral sites better prepare them then in Cal I trust.

April 29, 201511 yr Author Why bother, Indiana isn't relevant in basketball anymore. Indiana will be better than UK next year IMO.
April 29, 201511 yr Indiana will be better than UK next year IMO. Probably not the matter in which they wanted it to happen, but IU should be really good next season.

April 29, 201511 yr Why should IU give in and just play them at neutral sites? They don't have to. But their program needs the game more than UK.
April 29, 201511 yr They don't have to. But their program needs the game more than UK. How does playing UK help IU? The Big Ten is better than SEC.
April 29, 201511 yr They don't have to. But their program needs the game more than UK. Well that's pretty arrogant. One game a year isn't going to make or break any season IU has, regardless of how good UK is.
April 29, 201511 yr Being the traditionalist old school guy, I really liked the home and home. In Indiana's heyday, Assembly Hall was as rockin' as Cameron Indoor. And Rupp is Rupp. I've got to believe no matter what the records, both places would be packed for the games. I'd like to see it renewed and I like the idea home and home and neutral every other.
