Sheldon Clark informed Raceland Thursday (April 23rd) that they were breaking the 2 year contract. So, I guess we are looking for a game to fill our schedule. With all the travel restrictions, due to budget constraints, this may be tough to fill.

What reason did they give to break the contract? Should have been a good game.

I'd be glad to see Wburg head up there again, not sure either coach would want it, but I would be happy.

I am only the team doctor but I only know that they called and canceled and that we are scrambling to fill this spot. It's difficult to find a game this late in the year......

Any news on this yet Doc ? That would be extremely tough to fill. Hopefully Sheldon Clark can somehow reconsider / honor their commitment.

Looks like Johnson Central has an open date that week.

Belfry has been on the receiving end of those shenanigans the past couple of years, but never this late in the year. That sucks for any team to cancel this late in the scheduling season. Just terrible.

 

I know Sheldon Clark is under a new coaching staff, and they have struggled the past couple of years, but that is just really unfair to Raceland.

I dont see how anyone has the extra $$$$ to get out of these contracts this time of day. When I was AD we would do a minimum of $5000 per game on the contract. Don't know too many schools or teams with an extra $5k/$10k to just throw out the window

Unless its a bowl game most contracts that I have seen are only $500.00 anymore.

All of ours were minimum $5000 per game (regular season). That covers the loss of ticket sales & concession & that included all of the contracts I saw going for the 15/16 season in Central Kentucky.

Fleming County had to pick up Lucasville Valley during the Dead Period last year. Another team from Ohio dropped them at the end of June.

Doc, if that is their only reason (to play someone else) then pardon my French but that sucks. Another poster stated that SC has done this type of thing before and I have to wonder why anyone would schedule them. There very well may be something that I am unaware of but the way I grew up a person / school is only as good as their word :no:. ......just say'n.

As I said, I don't know the reasoning and I wonder what kind of gate %, $$ that SC is used to getting but a Home Game at Raceland draws a very nice gate, as well as the payout to a visiting team. I would think that SC would get a decent visitor. opponets gate. Especially if it is a "special" date / game like homecoming, youth - jfl night, senior night etc.. Raceland fans show up even more, we get ones like some out of town relatives, visitors, family that normally wouldn't be there without it being a "special" date, game.

Anyway, I do hope that we (Raceland) gets a game that week, preferably @ H due to only 4 home games including this one are on the schedule this season.
