The electoral college has shifted so much in the past 10 years that the Republicans are fighting an uphill battle before the race even starts. They've pretty much have most of the big populated states in their corner. California, New York, and the northeastern states are automatics, and some of the others that once were Republican, such as Florida, are now trending Democratic.

 

I truly don't think the Republicans can win regardless who they run, and regardless of how poor a candidate or race the Democrats run. The demographic landscape has changed and I don't see it shifting much in the foreseeable future.

I thought the same thing when Bush was re elected. As much as it pains people to probably admit a republican was the one who really set this country on the downward path really far and a democrat did nothing to help it either in Obama. There is no reason to believe a republican candidate and what they believe as republicans will fix things either. At the end of the day none of it matters. Whoever is president could have great ideas and even if the other party realizes it could be good the other party now a days will fight it anyways. It is not what is best for our country anymore with these parties. It is now about making sure the other party fails by fighting everything.

 

There are good ideas and bad ideas with both platforms. I tend to vote conservative or slightly toward middle of the road. What I don't like is being hoodwinked during a campaign and that person is elected by the easily misled majority of the minority that bothered to vote. I'm tired of the "popularity marketing" instead of folks really listening and researching what each candidate is saying or about. I simply cannot support a person for President that I know is shady at the least.

It has changed so much due to a lot of illegal immigrants now voting, also with more black turnout, the Dems have it made. But those 2 groups are being lied to just to get votes.

As someone strongly pro-life, the absolute failures of that movement combined with the constant lies of the Republican party about their intentions regarding that movement were one of the things that led me to drop my registration with the GOP.

 

Neither party as an absolute hold on weaving sprawling webs of misdirection and half-truths in order to get votes from certain groups. In the end, single-issue voters are begging to be lied to; I know I was.

So the one party that is trying to stop or at least curtail Abortions is the one you quit supporting in favor of the party that openly supports those that not only profit from abortions but also perpetuate abortion as a solution for a "mistake".

Moving to the Democratic Party was a matter of convenience simply because that's the only way to vote for things that matter in Louisville. I make a lousy Democrat for a lot of the same reasons I make a lousy Republican. In the heat of the moment, I felt I saw one party that was doing all sorts of things to try and help middle-and-low-income families and one party that was nominally anti-abortion but hadn't really done anything about it. I found myself extremely upset the more I thought about it.

 

My disappointment with the pro-life movement and the vast mistakes I think it's made by hitching itself to the Republican Party are definitely the subject of another thread. I apologize for derailing things.

 

As long as we're moving back to the subject: I find Hillary deeply troubling for a lot of reasons but there's that old adage about the devil you know. If one or two of the possible candidates from the Republican primary end up winning, I can see myself voting for them. I do, however, have deep misgivings about the libertarian wing of the GOP and can't see myself supporting them.

While it seems that way, America has shifted, like a pendulum, since its incipiency. Messages change, parties adjust, and votes reflect as such.

No answer to my question in that article. You said a lot of illegal immigrants now vote, I asked how many. Not how many might be able to vote given certain circumstances. I COULD date Halle Berry, I have not dated Halle Berry. Yet.

I find it interesting how Hillary gets so much support, especially from feminists. I mean, the way that she became famous was because her ex-husband became President. She came to be known by her husband's accomplishments. Is that not the opposite of feminism?

 

Also IMO she has shown poor leadership and her "HillaryCare" plan for health care, which was a failure, is like the grandparent of Obamacare which many people still don't consider successful.

They'll have to bone up on all the words they cannot use when talking about the secretary of state which will basically hamstring them to the point they cannot criticize the woman's record. This crap just gets stupid and more stupid. If this woman gets elected as POTUS then I have lost all faith in the common sense of my fellow Americans. Just my opinion.

I think that is because NO politician wins who pushes welfare, social security or other social reform. It is OUR fault as the people who vote in those who continue to extend and build these programs.
