April 8, 201511 yr I have seen a lot of outcry where dead/dying suspects were handcuffed. Happens all the time. I don't know whether officers are supposed to give medical aid though.
April 8, 201511 yr Why did the guy run from the Cop in the first place? What we didn't see is what led up to the video of the guy jogging away. There was a reference that he had been stunned but still was able to get away. Not saying the cop was justified in shooting Scott, but we are all assuming a fight did not occur where Scott got the best of the cop and put that 'fear' in him. We do not know if Scott was not jacked up on drugs (tests will tell us), The taser did not affect him which would also scare the crud out of a cop. Why did someone randomly started video taping at that moment. He had to pull his phone out because something was going down. If the cop lied or messed with the evidence he should for sure be in trouble big time. When a cop tells you to do something, do it! If you have 10 priors and get pulled over you need to obey the officers demand and you will probably not get shot and killed. Nor will it put the cop in a situation to perform such a stupid act. Waiting for the rest of the details, maybe a cruiser cam? There was another officer on the scene shortly after the shooting? The video sure paints a bleak picture of the cop. I'm thinking when the rest of the information comes out he will still be in deep doo doo, but it may shed just a little light on the situation versus what appears to be just a random shooting of a guy in the back.

Wow! The officers police report mentioned no word of a scuffle or physical altercation from what I have read to this point, but there was statements about things that apparently (according to video) did not occur. Beyond shooting Scott IN THE BACK as he ran away, the next stupid thing was to pick up evidence and place it next to the body. This officer is a disgrace to the badge and hopefully the court system will decide properly where he needs to be for the rest of his life.
April 9, 201511 yr Does it matter in regards to the officer choosing to shoot him? Yes it matters, was there a struggle before hand. Did the suspect commit a violent action towards the officer before he fired? Makes a huge difference. Mindset of the suspect is the same as mindset of the cop, need to know both.

Mindset of the suspect is the same as mindset of the cop, need to know both. He fired 8 X's as he ran away and tried to change the crime scene. There is no excuse. Either a rush of blood to the head or a peeved officer. Either way it was excess force and he went beyond his legal authority.

I really can't think of one event that may have happened before he took off on foot that would give the officer the right to shoot an unarmed man when there was no one else around that was in danger.

Mindset of the suspect is the same as mindset of the cop, need to know both. He could have smacked the officer in the face prior to the video starting. It still wouldn't justify him shooting the man in the back as he was running away from him, unarmed.

How was no one else in danger? Suspect running from the Cops, runs into traffic and causes an accident where someone could get killed. No danger there? What if he tried to steal someones car? No danger there?

April 9, 201511 yr By that logic you should shoot a kid that takes off running when the police roll up on him while he is smoking weed or drinking a beer. You assume I said or think it was ok for the officer to shoot this suspect.
April 9, 201511 yr Author You assume I said or think it was ok for the officer to shoot this suspect. So I'm obviously confused. I said there could be no valid reason. You replied with a couple of "what if's."
