As an educator I just shake my heads sometimes over things that happens in schools.

I am just going to say it, the state of Tennessee never ceases to amaze me.

I guess I'm more contrarian than most people, no way my son gets his hair cut in that situation. Unbelievable.

If the parent doesn't like this, send the youngster to a military school. (Haircuts like this may not be acceptable even there, though.) Otherwise, accept the fact that freedom of this and that doesn't apply at public schools. Courts have ruled repeatedly that school administrators can do what they want to preserve the learning culture -- which includes banning offensive T-shirts as well as adopting other appearance codes.

I'm just trying to clarify your position: Are you saying there's no way you'd let your kid get the military haircut or no way you would cave to the administration and shave his head to get rid of the military haircut?

More inside baseball. Care to elaborate?
