March 26, 201511 yr Kentucky Expands Booster Seat Law To Children Under 8 Years And Under 57 Inches Bill is headed to Governor Beshear's desk. I'll dare you to try and figure out how many different laws there are state to state. I'd hate to see how many tickets you are risking driving across country with a kid in the back seat and only one booster seat...
March 26, 201511 yr Do-gooder politicians. They are out to save us. Or they are in the pockets of insurance companies who benefit from more of these type laws. Like the ones that made air-bags mandatory. The devices that caused a lot of deaths to children unnecessarily.

Improperly putting children in the front seat is more to blame than air bags.

And when you look at some parents who ignorantly put young children in the front seat, yes, laws like this are needed to save kids! Also, I would think that your state laws may apply when traveling fro state to state.

Air-Bag Concerns Heightened After Child Is Decapitated in Fender-Bender - latimes Air bags were previously blamed for the deaths of 31 children and 20 adults--mostly smaller women--in low-speed crashes they otherwise could have survived. I know - "there oughta be a law" is the answer t so many thing. Every law is reduction of freedom. Even when it comes to booster seats.

People were forced to purchase autos with a deadly auto-robotic device in them - that they could not control, alter or disable without the threat of law over their heads. Terrible unnecessary deaths were caused because the government did not just set a guideline and then educate people - it MANDATED the deadly devices be 3 feet from your face. I am just not a fan of government mandating or creating penalties for some things that do not need government intervention.

For instance, air-pollution laws give me more freedom by allowing me to be outdoors more.

So one should be able to consume as much alcohol as possibly and he is good to go? If a parent leave a child in a locked car in hot weather, the parent should not be charged?
March 26, 201511 yr The government must always know best. Well....maybe not. Where was this child in that article? Front seat? The article did say it was a forward-facing child safety seat, if there was an air bag involved the child was in the front seat, which aren't the safety seats supposed to be facing backwards in the front seat? You had to go back 19 years to fond something to fit your argument? As Jumper Dad stated, more lives have been saved.
March 26, 201511 yr Heck I know 3-4 BGPers that might not clear 57" tall. I'm not going to say names, as the last time I did someone wasn't happy at the last get together.
