O.J. Mayo suspended!

Does Oak Hill not worry about personality problems? Wouldn't it look bad that they're taking a kid that just got suspended for 180 days? Regardless of his talent...you gotta have some standards.

Oak Hill works under their own rules since they are outside the "VHSAA". He was there last weekend, and it seems this incident was before that trip FWIW...

They took Rondo the Chemistry Killer, didn't they?

I understand that but I just kinda have a problem with them just taking him even after whatever it is that happened at NCH. They're gonna get the best talent regardless. Might as well hold themselves to some standards while they're at it.

Look at who they've had. That should answer your questions...

When did Rondo have major problems (multiple times) in HS?

Nice try, though.

Oak Hill had Rashaad Carruth, too ... but Steve Smith seems to handle the attitudes well. He suspended Tywon Lawson early in the season.

Rondo had some issues early in his high school career, but from everything I've heard, he was no problem at Oak Hill.

180 days is a long time. What could you do to get suspended for that long? 180 days in reality means that you were just kicked out of the school.

I could comment on when he was at Rose Hill well enough but bgp rules pevent talking about a high school kid. Key word is High School, what is this thread doing in college sports?

I saw him several times, and saw him respond to incidents that could have not been handled very well by most adults and saw him respond each time with a lot of class and maturity. Maybe being absent from the Rose Hill type community has a little to do with his now surfacing behavior problems. There is a lot to be said for choosing who you run and associate with.

:thumb: Good point !

That's what happens when adults kiss the rear of a high school kid. Kids who think they can do whatever the Hedoublehockeysticks they want, usually do.

When he was at Rose Hill I went to see him play against Lewis County, very talented kid, but his actions are so that he thinks he's untouchable, this is the 2nd time I believe I heard him being in trouble. The first time it involved him and teamate Bill Walker I believe it was over a girl, were they threatened another student.

I too Agree with this.:thumb:

Being suspended for the rest of the year, and with about a month left in school, are we certain that OJ will even pass the 11th grade? I don't know how the Ohio school system works, but missing a month could do some serious damage to a kid's grades.

NCH has a policy that when a student is suspended they can continue to do their work and it will count, sorta defeats the purpose of the suspension if you ask me. It gives the kids the freedom to do whatever they want and potentialy have whomever they want do the school work for them.

What? They have to go to school and do school work too? I thought they were just basketball players.
