Ram Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 What does Bowling Green need to do to improve in 2015? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
Purple Nation Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 In order for the Purples to get back on top their new QB, Clark Payne, will need to play with a lot of confidence trusting the system. Our D line will have a few new faces as well as our O line. BG will have arguably the best 1, 2 punch in state at running back position. I am predicting a solid year, only to get better, stronger and faster the next 3 or 4 years. The Purple Train will be rolling down the tracks. If you are going to beat them, you better do it soon.

LongTimeReader Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 What year is their new QB? I remember reading last year they had a couple of very good young running backs, and one that I believe set a school record for rushing yards in a game. The Purples will re-load again, because the foundation for their program has been in place for a long time. Getting the young players comfortable with the system, terminology, and speed of the game will be key. I like their schedule and I see a few good challenges for them that will get them ready for another playoff run. The Manual scrimmage will be a good indicator, but early games with St. X and Owensboro will be a solid gauge of what to expect for this group of Purples.
Purple88 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 What year is their new QB? s. LTR, Clark Payne will be BGs new QB and he will be a Junior. I am pretty up beat that he will have a good season. He was solid on the JV scene and mop up duty last year but obviouly varsity ball is a different animal.

Nothing against last years QB, but when BG has a QB who has more than a year to learn the system good things typically happen; just look at Steelman, Hollis, and Hayes.

In all honesty, and this is not a dig at the kid, but they will have to get a more athletic QB. Every year they have won State dating back to the 90's, they have had a QB that was a dual threat. If they can somehow find a QB that fills that void, they will make it back to State, otherwise I don't know that they can.
psychicscubadiver Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 How many starters does BG lose from last year? Also, what do y'all think about facing Highlands for the state title?
Doubletake1906 Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Hoe many starters does BG lose from last year? Also, what do y'all think about facing Highlands for the state title? To beat Highlands, their offense will have to become more dynamic. From seeing the outcome of their game against Graves County last year, I would say they have a LONG way to go before being considered as a favorite over Highlands. And that will start with the QB position.... They also need to get Carothers, their best athlete, more touches and allow him to create in space.
fastaslightin Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Who besides Carothers will they have in the back field? Who are some of their younger backs to look out for?
BIG BLACK JACK Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Is Jacob Yates, who is BG's #2 punch to Carothers #1 , any relation to Jon Yates who played in the area in the mid-2000's?
Cynical Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Is Jacob Yates, who is BG's #2 punch to Carothers #1 , any relation to Jon Yates who played in the area in the mid-2000's? Jacob is Jon's younger brother. Jon, Jacob's older brother was quite the talented player and was a KY All Star in 2007. Both brothers are excellent athletes and even better young men. BG is blessed with some very talented skill players for the coming years...but in addition to many of these young men's skills, they are excellent people and students.
Doubletake1906 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 I have been told that Robbie Lofton, their top WR, has transferred to another school... Any truth to this?
