Most posts on here think the Camels will be a challenge but believe the colonels will win. Only a few are predicting double digit win. They are blowing out bad teams.

 

And If Dre Jackson got off to such a wonderful start last time, what happened ?

 

As I stated, the camels are scary, but the pressure D will be too much for them

Colonels by 10-12, they have a favorable bracket again this year. Ballard, Lexington Catholic, Knott Co and Boyle are all on the other side. Coach Ruthsatz will have them ready come next Wednesday, although Campbell County will not go easy. I thought they played a nice game at Rupp last year, just came up a little short.

 

Agree to disagree on the favorable bracket aspect. I think they match up nicely with the camels, and whoever may win the second game. However, they don't have the size to match-up with Holman and the rest of the Owensboro squad. Hopkinsville has to much fire power, and Jaqualis Matlock is a monster, who does CCH have to matchup with a 6'6 wing that is a bull? I believe Taylor County in the semis is the best possible scenario. While TC has good guards, I think CCH match ups up with them better than the prior two teams I mentioned. The biggest thing CCH has going for them is they have Ruthsatz as their coach; IMO he is the best coach in the state. However, with all that said they still have to take care of the Camels first and foremost.

I think even Camels fans can understand that if all anyone has to go by is who the Camels played (vs actually watching them) then it's easy to have a jaundiced view when we read how much better the Camels are playing. We're handicapped by not seeing them.

The game that would interest me most if I were the Colonel staff would be the loss to Boone. The rest don't really tell me a lot.

What many fail to realize is that Campbell County learned last year that there are really only 5 games that truly mean anything in the entire season and those are the 2 district games and 3 regional games. While it's nice to go 30-0 or 28-3 and be "ranked" in some poll all year, what does that really get you ... Nothing. Not saying that the Camels weren't trying to win every game, but when they didn't, it wasn't the end of the world. These kids kicked it into another gear last year and they've done it again this year. Regardless of who they've played recently, they are playing at a completely different level and intensity right now and I wouldn't count them out of anything. I'll leave the predicting to all of the "experts" .....

Yes, Wilson played in the CovCath game. I believe he had 17 points and 10 boards.

Yes Matt played, 17 points and 9 rebounds, Jackson had 15. CCH out rebounded CCHS 32-31. CCH shot 56% from the field, Camels shot 36%

 

The Camels were coming off an 80-55 win over Newport the night before. Looked to me like they just ran out of steam in the 4th. Numbers kinda say the same thing.....

When you have two players like Matt and Dre you're going to be in games. Add in some other role players and it will most likely be a good matchup.

I have also seen both teams play and like CCH in the matchup. Again, I harken back to a much tougher schedule for CCH.

 

That said, there is concern on my part by letting the past three teams (Newport, St. H, and Holmes all stick around when the prior meeting the colonels won all by double digits). Could it be them adapting to the zone?

 

Either way, I see a good game but Camels folding under immense pressure on the court.

I guess we are coming from a different point of view on this one. If I am CCH, they caught a nice break with Campbell County winning the 10th over Mason (Come on, anyone would agree with that, but I agree the Camels are playing well. And If anyone on here predicted Mason to lose, I give you much credit)...

 

but the bottom half of the bracket is tougher. That's ok. They only remember the State Champion, not the strength of the bracket. This year the 9th or 10th gets a beatable Doss team whom NCC had down but eventually lost to. Doss is likely saying the same thing, so hence you have what we call the Sweet 16 where anything can happen.

 

I see CCH beating Campbell, then beating Doss, and playing Taylor County on Saturday night. Lets just leave it there for now. Doss hasn't even won the 6th yet. Hopkinsville always comes in with plenty of promise and a ton of athletes but I need to see them win a few games. I don't see them beating Taylor, but these are just guesses.

The bottom half has Ballard and KCC. Too tough teams I'd like to avoid until the finals.

 

I am impressed with Taylor County's schedule. Moeller, Wilmington, and some DC powers and out of state powers. Impressed their staff had the wherewithal to get in those contests.

 

Should be a great state tourney. Pretty open IMO with an edge to Ballard overall.

CCH is not playing their best, but keep in mind they have a week (as does CC) to put that behind them. I think the week off could hurt CC as it may slow down their momentum, and it could help CCH put the ugly 9th region games behind.

 

I realize I am incredibly biased. This is not a knock at CC either, but I know CovCath will be prepared for this game a helluva lot better than they were for Clay County in round 1 last year.

 

I also think it will not be a 19 point margin like last time. Wilson and Dre are players. CCH will need Romes and Schuh to command the boards. But like I said, I have no doubt Scott and his crew will have them ready. Colonels by 11.
