He had one hell of a high school career, and while he has some haters, no doubt in my mind the kid is good enough to play at West Va. He will have a great career, not only because he is an awesome basketball player and athlete, but anyone who has spoke to him off the court, knows he will be successful in life for the simple fact that he is a high character kid who takes pride in his faith.

 

This may sound stupid but it was a rather emotional moment for me. That moment was the start of James becoming Historic. He will be remembered and I was there. Fans get wrapped in the moment. Quite psychological. Why do victory celebration turn violent? How can people yell at refs the most nasty things? Good people do dumb thing in situations like this for some reason. Crowds and contests evoke something in people that is unexplainable.

I didn't stay until the end, I left before he fouled out because I just have trouble watching the disappointment on the kids faces. Call me a wimp, it is just the way I am. I felt awful when Pangallo crouched to the floor when Holmes beat them and the same for the Dixie kids. I just hate it. I know it is part of the sport but it does get to me and I really wasn't vested in those kids like I was the Holmes kids whom I have talked to and know a little.

 

With that being said, I wish you wouldn't share things like that. Walter, you do an outstanding job in being a great ambassador for the kids in the 9th region and really throughout the state. And we all know you are a great Bulldogs advocate. Everyone is ok with that, most on here have their vested team. Calling out other team's fans is just not helping anyone's cause.

 

I think we all know every school has those few that are inappropriate and short sighted. I take it as that and move on. It is really their problem, not mine. I would have to believe that most people really appreciate the career Beetle had and that includes all teams.

 

I want Holmes to win as badly as you and other fans and I can honestly say was pulling for Newport to upset the Colonels on Saturday, however, I certainly appreciate and really respect the CCH team and coaches. As I stated last night, the best team won the region. Sitting there last night, I knew the recipe from the last two years, they are a resilient bunch and you better have knocked them out (have a double digit lead) going into the final four minutes or you are probably going to lose.

 

Keep up the good work big guy, you are good for the players and teams in the region, just take some advice from an old sage who has made many mistakes in an emotional state. It's better just to say nothing and move on. It serves no purpose not to.

I also heard some interesting comments from adults that left me shaking my head. This was during the Dixie vs Holmes game and the comments were made by some CCH fans sitting directly behind me. The comments in my opinion were ridiculous but everyone has their opinions and a few bad apples are always present at these games.

As a CCH fan, I stood and applauded in appreciation to what Mr. Bolden has brought to the 9th region over these past years. The group I was sitting with all agreed that we hope he has much success at WVU. . . look forward to rooting for a local kid on national TV.

 

If others made disparaging remarks, they are not true fans of the game. PERIOD.
