When'd that happen? I'd believe it. I just hadn't heard of any recent ones.

Really? You didn't hear about it?

I'd like to point out some things I've gotten second hand.

#1 . Classy move by a lot of the Clay Co kids who've been online congratulating Williamsburg, saying they'll be for them next week. One kid, Ryan House, is a senior who played his heart out and would have every reason to just not say a word and people wouldn't question him.

#2 . Trey Farmer is a kid who has taken a ton of undeserved shots from adults who stayed after Williamsburg got out of the locker room to congratulate them and wish them good luck going forward.

#3 . People say a lot about Clay County, but there are some really good kids who lost a game and have to be feeling it right now, but they aren't making excuses and are handling it like champs. I'll be for Williamsburg at Rupp next week, and I think that's a sentiment that a lot of people will share. They were the better team tonight.

I had a front row seat tonight, and to say that would be an understatement. Clay county's players and coaches showed Williamsburg more class than any team all year. Clay county fans should be proud of their team not only for the hard play but how they handled the whole tournament. Williamsburg played well tonight we hope we can make the 13th region proud at Rupp. Awesome tournament.

I agree they weren't any sour grapes from the Clay kids towards Williamsburg. I know some took the loss very hard. But I have seen most of the starters congratulate the Burg and wish them the best at rupp on several social media sites.

First regional title since 1946. Congratulations to Williamsburg. What a great athletic season they are having!

Nice catch, gc. Williamsburg made the Sweet 16 three times in the 1940's...their only previous trips to state.

Great game and atmosphere. There is no way they could have had this game in a high school gym. Congrats to Williamsburg. Good luck next week.

The Clay County players handled the loss very well, both teams showed a lot of class and represented their school's well.

Congrats to Williamsburg, clay had a ton of open shots that just did not go down. The Burg dominated the boards and that is where the game was won. I haven't missed but 1 Game in 2 years and what you saw out of Farmer tonight is more than you usually get on the defensive end. But he can flat shoot it. He and Blake Smith tried to will the tigers to victory but the hole was just to big. These was the worst 3 games I have seen them play all year. But on a positive note Clay only loses House next year and returns 2 of the top 4 players in the region. Smith is a legitimate D1 prospect and Farmer is as good as anyone on the offensive end. They should be even better if they can develop an inside post player. The refs in this tournament hurt clay as well not saying that they where bad but there style of calling a game went against every thing clay does well. Good luck to the burg but in all honesty I believe they will get run out of the gym .

Which means that Clay would have REALLY been run out of the gym(Rupp) because Wburg was clearly better than Clay.

No offense, but I have a hard time seeing Williamsburg beating Corbin, Knox Central, and Clay County in succession if you gave Clay County Williamsburg's spot in the bracket. They were the better team last night, but Clay County was playing with House and Sexton pretty beaten up. Both of those kids were playing pretty hurt from what I understand.

Again, congratulations to Williamsburg, they were the better team last night.

As far as taking a team at State to do well, I'd take Clay County. They were there the past two years and wouldn't be shell-shocked by Rupp and the atmosphere. Williamsburg may not be either, but you know for a fact that Clay County wouldn't be.

Here is what it sounds like when you make it to your first Sweet 16 since 1946:

Goosebumps. So much pride in the announcer's voice. Very happy for Williamsburg!

They beat South Laurel and Corbin back to back in the district and frankly South Laurel was better than Corbin, plus they beat Clay pretty convincingly. Williamsburg went 4-0 against Corbin this year. Clay made one run the entire game where they out did Williamsburg. Spot in the bracket had absolutely nothing to do with it. Not to mention just last week Barbourville beat Knox Central.

Just because Corbin and Knox Central are the "name brands" of the 13th region doesn't mean they were better this year.

All true!

This Wburg team has several players that helped lead the football team to two state championship games in football. They have the hearts and the drive of champions. I hope they have a good showing at Rupp.
