It is very important to realize that getting letters from schools means absolutely NOTHING! I can't reiterate that enough. Colleges send out thousands upon thousands of those letters to young men across the country that they will never actually look at. Until you get calls from coaches, and most importantly, visits from coaches, you're not actually being recruited.

This is actually very good info. Many people will use the word recuited with nothing more than a letter. i will go as far and say your not a recuit until you have an offer. Calls txt and personal hand written letters a good sign.

Isn't Joe Walter's son only a freshman or sophomore ?

Look out for a kid at HC named Derek Barnes! The kid is a freak and can really play ball. He will be a junior this year and I believe is a true D1 talent. He was ineligible last year, so this will be his year to make a statement

Maybe it was your capitalization of the word "NOTHING" that set me off. Felt like I was in the classroom being scolded by the teacher. You noticed I did not put a lot of emphasis on what my kid has or has not received because in the end it only matters when they say here is what we have to offer. Also know that it is very tough to land an offer when you're a specialist. That is what this spring and summer will be for hopefully.

I understand. I was just trying to inform others on the forum who have the misconception that a letter means a lot. Good luck to your son! I find it ironic that specialists are so important yet are always the last to get offers.

England from Ryle has had the following schools actively recruiting him. Purdue, UK, UC, Georgia southern, Northern Arizona, Holy Cross, Cornell, Mizzou, Murray State, recently asked and or viewed film on him Akron, Cal, Lsu, Wisconsin.

 

Doesn't mean anything unless they offer him a scholarship.

 

It shows interest when schools ask your coach for film or send you a personalized letter stating they want to see you on campus to help evaluate you. Do these things not happen before they may or may not make an offer? Or do offers just drop out of the sky? I believe most schools will show interest in you before you are offered anything, pwo, partial, full.
