Do these things not happen before they may or may not make an offer? Or do offers just drop out of the sky? I believe most schools will show interest in you before you are offered anything, pwo, partial, full.

England from Ryle has had the following schools actively recruiting him. Purdue, UK, UC, Georgia southern, Northern Arizona, Holy Cross, Cornell, Mizzou, Murray State, recently asked and or viewed film on him Akron, Cal, Lsu, Wisconsin.

Yes that may happen, but its not the norm. Most kids have had some knowledge that the school was interested in them. If not by personal contact, contact to his coach or another option may come from a college camp. Uc stated that 75 % of their offers went to kids they had in their camps. Probably invited to camp, can't say how many just fell in their lap. I would say that they knew who they were looking at and when they would be there.

Getting letters and hearing from schools is great. At least you are on the radar, but it doesn't gaurantee that you will recieve a D1 scholarship. When I was in high school i got hundreds of letters from schools all over the country, from the likes of USC, Bama, Michigan, and pretty much every school you can think of. I realized that it was unlikely that any of those schools actually planned on recruiting me, but it was still pretty cool to get the letters. I recieved phone calls from coaches and went on unofficial visits to UK, UC, UofL and some MAC schools. I even had an offer from one of the service academies my junior year. My senior year came around and for some reason I didn't have any scholarship offers from these D1 schools who had been "recruiting" me for the past 3 years. I had the option to walk-on and potentially earn a scholarship, or I could accept a scholarship to a smaller school and compete for playing time right away. I ended up at an NAIA school and had a great career and got a great education. It's a big shot to the ego of a player who goes from getting letters and "interest" from D1 schools to signing with a DII, DIII, or NAIA program, but it's a reality for a lot of athletes in NKY.

For us it's not about getting looks, it's going to be about giving looks. High school ball has put us behind the 8-ball for an athletic type kid that can play many positions, but unable to generate any major film. His plan is to hit the one day college camps full force like a major job interview, and to do is his best to show his athleticism and steal a scholarship offer. Even if you are getting DI looks, you still have to prove yourself to keep that college recruit interest.

I would only attend camps with invites and a few dream school camps (Ohio state,UK). The rest would be by invite only. That's if you can gain interest if not go to all of them.

The new ncsa rules put your minimum act and GPA on a sliding scale now.. Your gpa affects the act score you need and vice-a-versa. 30 act is not needed. But as your gpa drops the minimum act score you must have goes up. you can find that info on the web.

If you get an offer off of just film. Do not go to that schools camp. what more do you have to prove.

 

I think most of those kids did not have an offer yet. I think the info was to either help sell camp enrollment or they want to see you in person not just on film. Every college has their own style of recruiting.

If a kid has a 30+ ACT score and feels he is D1 potential, he should send that info to every Ivy League and high level academic school out there. That is the best D1 "scholarship" opportunity there is for 99.9% of the athletes.

Correct. Hence the reason for the quotations on "scholarships". If you get into an Ivy League school nowadays, cost will not be an issue. If you are at the bottom end of the income scale, the endowment will pay your way. If you are at the top end, cost isn't an issue.

 

Bottom line - if your parents make less than $100,000 a year, I am pretty sure you will go to most Ivy League schools at a minimal cost that you can easily afford. That pretty much equals scholarship and you are at a school that should set you up for success for the rest of your life.

I have heard Slusher from Beechwood is getting some looks from D1..
