I've read the 4th Region refs are not off to a good start in the 1st Region tourney.

 

Can't say I am the least bit surprised. I'll leave it at that.

Since it took me a bit to figure out the table I thought I'd type it out. According to the link...

 

1st Region Tournament will get officials from 4th.

2nd Region Tournament will get officials from 3rd.

3rd Region Tournament will get officials from 2nd.

4th Region Tournament will get officials from 1st.

5th Region Tournament will get officials from 6th.

6th Region Tournament will get officials from 5th.

7th Region Tournament will get officials from 8th.

8th Region Tournament will get officials from 11th.

9th Region Tournament will get officials from 16th.

10th Region Tournament will get officials from 12th.

11th Region Tournament will get officials from 7th.

12th Region Tournament will get officials from 13th.

13th Region Tournament will get officials from 10th.

14th Region Tournament will get officials from 15th.

15th Region Tournament will get officials from 14th.

16th Region Tournament will get officials from 9th.

 

Geographically it would appear that the refs from the 16th going to the 9th, and the 9th going to the 16th are the ones most affected by distant travel. Most of the other switcheroos seem to allow for refs to stay in a closer proximity to where they are originating from.

There are a few good ones in 9th. However there is a big group that will either call inconsistent or will be very touchy and not let any contact occur. Also tends to be a lot of calls that are made from a position that does not have the best view of what is occuring

I assume you have never officiated. If I am correct I am 100% confident that you have no idea what officials have what area as their primary and secondary areas of responsibility.

As a former official and coach the 9th region officials are what they are... average. They are under more of a microscope than any other officials in the state that is NKY being what it is. Am curious to see what kind of game the 16th calls. Also, agree with B-Ball-Fan quite the discrepancy in distance traveled for these officials. Anybody know the reason for such an distant matchup?

However an official who has an obstructed view from the back of a player shouldn't be calling a foul on a block when the two other officials are staring at the clean block. Also when an official is staring directly at a player who kicks the ball but let's it go how is that ok? I understand the primary and secondary areas as all officials should be monitoring all areas but I've seen way too many players for opposing teams get away with elbows and shoving while officials are right there looking at it

That is one thing that drives me crazy about refs, call your area, happens in the 16th some and that my big complaint, I`m a former ref so I no a little about areas, I don't bash refs much ,because I know it is a very tuff job.

Watched the 9th region girls tourney games last night at NKU 16th refs CALLED every little thing, not sure about tonight's games but hard for teams to get in a grove.

Really , wasn't like that for the boy`s in regular season, Who knows. True makes for a sloppy game with no flow.

Also, if we get all the snow they're talking about, how will this effect the 9th and 16th Region refs in their travel? Perhaps they've already made it to their destinations, and it's not a factor, but if they haven't, how's this going to play out if they can't make it in time for the games?

depends on who you get from the 6th and 7th---some really good ones and then there are several that I would trade with any region!!!

My guess is that many 9th & 10th Region, particularly 37th District, schools use the same pool of refs during the regular season. Same reason 6th & 7th Region refs don't do the other I suspect.

I feel sorry for region 3 tournament for being subjected to the states worst officials!
