You are absolutely correct that things are a mess right now. No doubt about it. I do, however, think Chris Jones is a big part of the problem. I've thought that for a while. He's a score-first PG, very selfish, IMO. Bad attitude, pouts too much, flops too much, all that negative stuff that isn't exemplary of a good point guard.

 

With or without Jones, UL has struggled this year on offense, that's no secret. Jones is a good player, so to say they will be better off without his play (when it's good) is silly. However, if he has as bad of an attitude as I'm lead to believe, Louisville doesn't need him. Play Snider and let him develop.

 

Jones probably is a big part of the problem. That said, I believe there is most likely more than one problem. If he was the only problem, I don't see Pitino playing him as much as he does. Until now, his punishments have been short lived, which would leave one to believe he isnt the only problem. Otherwise why continue to play him as needed?

 

I can agree that he is a shoot first pg and seems to out himself ahead of the team as a whole, which to me is a problem. But he has also carried the team in several games this season when no one else stepped up. Shelfish or not, the offense moves better when he is in the game, which is the only reason I could see Pitino continuing to play him.

 

Snyder is a work in progress, which is likely why his pt has been limited. I believe over time he could be a good one though. But then that all goes back to if Jones is THE problem, why does Pitino continue to play him when needed? Unless Pitino is losing his mind, he should know his team better than you or I.

They haven't released the reasoning yet.

 

What difference does it make anyway? Apparently it was bad enough for him to be dismissed.

I don't thnk my post was silly, I think as my opinion the entire time has been that for a top program with the history they have which the should be proud of. What has happened this season is not of the standards I like to think of when I think of UL basketball. I think they are better than that. You think I hate the program because it doesn't go with your argument. I have already said I don't hate the program at all. I'm a UK fan but have also been a UL fan especially in the Denny Crum days.

PG is a lot like QB. The offense should move better with Jones in the game, he is who is been playing the majority of the minutes. Only way for that chemistry to be present when Q is in the game is for him to play.

 

I'm not saying Jones is the only problem, but you gotta put your best players on the floor, especially when a team is as challenged offensively as UL is this year. Apparently the negatives now outweigh the positives with Jones.

Because you don't hear about Harrell having a bad attitude from Pitino and others. The only people who are negative on Harrell are non-Louisville people. He's one of those guys that if he's on your team you love him and if he's not you hate him. If Harrell had an ATTITUDE problem like Jones, we would know about it... There's a difference between being emotional and having a bad attitude. Harrell is emotional, Jones has a bad attitude.

I get what your saying.. It just makes one wonder what Jones did in the past 24 hours to get kicked off the team. He obviously wasnt a problem yesterday, as he played his tail off and helped his team win a close game.

 

I guess to make it short and simple without speculating too much as to what's going on, it just seems odd that he was suspended indefinetly, then reinstated, then played a great game, then was kicked off the team. It makes one wonder what could have happened to cause that whole scenario. Long story short, that's why I believe there is more of a problem than Chris Jones. Hopefully that's not the case and they can get things together in time for the tournament.

Maybe I'm from the old school. I wouldn't want Harrell on my team at all if he can't keep his emotions in check.

 

He is a great player, the best player clearly on the team. I just don't agree his attitude can always be excused.

They are separate issues from what I understand. As GT just posted, I've heard the reason for dismissal is a domestic violence situation.

I’m with Gold Sunrise on this – really surprised with the Chris Jones news, especially after his performance at yesterday’s game. But no doubt warranted whatever it turns out to be.

 

On the other hand if Harrell is making a joke out of the program… keep the jokes coming. LOL! Go Montrezl!!
