I like Cooper. He has come a long way and is a great kid off the court (one of the top kids in his class at CCH) but I think most coaches would agree Cooper isn't a top 10 player over Ethan.

 

The college interest speaks for itself.

 

Seems like you never really have anything positive to say about Snapp other than "nice player."

Saying he is not in my top 10 is "never really have anything positive to say." I know he's your boy but I have him in the 11 12 range. No shame in that.

 

I don't bash him. I say he's a nice player and he is a nice player. I take Cooper T's entire totality of his game over Snapp's. No bashing.

What doesn't get mentioned on here by those who bash him or think he's just "a nice player" is the fact that he sees double teams and is face guarded EVERY night out. They simply talk about shot selection and ignore the fact that he's basically playing with a quarterback (Price), fullback (Joseph), and undersize center (6'2 Covington) and is forced to take shots like that for Newport to score. And that's not a knock on Newport. Snapp gets everything out of those kids and they play hard.

 

The only team that I've seen defend him straight up this year was Holmes with McClendon, and Holmes switched on him throughout the game to avoid foul trouble because of how much Ethan draws contact and gets to the line.

You completely disparage his teammates' basketball skills by calling them a "quarterback" "fullback" and "undersized center."

 

IMO CCH didn't need any special D against him. He had A LOT of times where he had the ball with a defender straight up and couldn't escape man-to-man D.

Not sure of his assist or steals totals since KHSAA doesn't list those but here are the stats of Snapp and Theobald:

I think the thing with Theobald is, he is very much a "system" kid, IMO at this point. I saw him play over the summer on multiple occasions where sometimes you just have to let your raw talent take over, and his production against the "upper echelon" (Cincinnati area) talent as a whole was lacking. I think he's a very heady player, has good length, is competitive, can score when needed, solid defender, and is just coming into his own (unfortunately, senior year), but I also don't think he draws a lot of attention because he has CVH and Schuh on his team. However, he seems to have a lot of upside.

 

The unfortunate thing for Snapp is 2-fold... He doesn't have much of any real basketball talent around him (Snapp gets all he can from his kids), so he has to take a lot of risks. That said, Snapp does need to work on defense, and rebounding. His passing skills are seen much more clearly when you watch him play with other talented kids around him.

 

Someone mentioned the scoring... When you can score in bunches, from anywhere, that's all certain colleges need to see. That in itself (believe it or not) is a skill.

I never said they don't work hard. Those kids work their tails off. I've seen them do some different things in the gym. You can quote me all you want, but I didn't see you naming any of those kids in your top 10, and probably not top 25.

I've seen all the players on all your lists and I was just getting ready to throw a wrench in all your lists, then Clyde goes and mentions the young man that really impressed me.

 

Make some room on the top ten list for Michael Scott from Conner. He just gets it done. Plays with so much poise. Has good size and handle. Scores without taking a ton of shots. Very efficient.
