Awesome, maybe I"ll get to use the snowblower after all, just when I was about to pack it away. It is actually "easier" for snow to develop the colder it is, the key ingredient however is the amount of moisture in the atmosphere. Even if it's 10 degrees, it can and will snow if there is enough moisture present.

February 15, 201511 yr I was always under the impression that x amount of moisture creates higher amounts of snowfall at lower temperatures than the same amount of moisture would at higher temps? Maybe I have it backwards, I dunno..
February 15, 201511 yr Thanks for the answer, I just always remember our big snow falls happening when the temps where nearer to 32. That's probably just because there was more moisture available to produce snow. Generally speaking you get more moisture with higher temps, but that's not always the case. The moisture from this system is coming from the south, so suspect there will be plenty of it available.
February 15, 201511 yr One of the largest snowfalls I remember was a system similar to this one in '93. The moisture came up from the gulf and mixed with the cold air in the Ohio valley and produced blizzard conditions and bitter cold as the system moved past us. It was actually a similar winter to this one, little to no snow until mid February, then we got hammered for a month straight.
