Grammys 2015

Saying it was funny is defending him?

Saying he is a jerk to everyone is saying he isn't that bad?

What he did this year was a joke. Everyone in the audience laughed. What he said after the show during an interview was what he felt. Can he not say that after the show in an interview? How is it Beck doesn't care and gave a great response to the whole thing and everyone else is all mad? :lol2:

It sounds like some on here are defending him to me...but maybe not. I rarely watch these award shows because they bore me. Was not watching live - just saw the clips the next morning...did the audience laugh because they thought it was funny or was it more of a nervous laughter?? I have no idea. Whether Beck cares or not does not make any difference to me as to Kanye being a jerk to do it. It was Beck's moment and he had to make it about him. The interview after I thought was just embarrassing - for him and the ladies with him.

I'm completely floored that real people actually watch the Grammys. Wow.

I picture Kanye calling out to his white butler, "Livingston, come butter this bread!"

It's Rochester. That was always the correct answer.

Who Is Beck? (The Guy Who Beat Beyonce For Album of the year at the 2015 Grammys) | Billboard

FWIW, I love that Beck won. Love his music, and "Loser" is among my all-time favorite tunes. But..maybe from reading the link, you'll get why I relate to him.

Ehh, you need to learn more tunes. "Devil's Haircut" is where it's at. (see what I did there?)

:lol2::lol2:

My dad's name is Livingston. :lol2:

Again, it's Rochester. Get it straight. I'll leave you guys to do the research.

Wait, time out. When did Madonna become so well-respected that folks now call her by a weirdly Jewish name — and she is in no way, shape or form Jewish, despite her strange efforts to fool you — that doesn't really apply? The girl grew up Catholic in freakin' Detroit, for Chirssakes. Stop referring to her as some Jewish scion.

And yes, Madonna stinks. Her music has been horrible since about 1987. Is that when her second album came out? I don't know. She only had two worthwhile albums. I hate this thread.

What Kanye did last night didn't bug me. What bugs me is people who are Hip Hop fans actually think he has talent. He has been a disappointment since his first recrod. I love Hip Hop but to many people give him a pass for garbage material and just want him to be the genius he claims to be. His work is well below where some people want to put him.

I'm not gonna call him a genius, but he's really, really good. I'll leave it at that.

Kanye has dissed Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, French Montana, Sway, Obama and George Bush for those keeping stats at home.

It's easy to diss dead people. Two on that list are legit dead. Two others — the presidents — might as well be. Never heard of the other two. I'll have to live with that.

People still fight over Tupac and Biggie. :lol2: Saying the wrong thing about one of them will get you shot in some neighborhoods.

Kanye is talented but askk em is the greatest battle rapper of all time. He ain't stupid.

Jay-Z signs his checks. Who disses their boss at a weekend long concert? Kanye does.

50 Cent? Poser. I could see Kanye dissing 50 Cent.

Nobody with a brain would call out The Game or T.I. Word up.

I'm happy to. I have places in Ky to take them that they wouldn't even dream of telling their respective posses about. And I have enough word skills to get them over any silliness they might want to engage in.

If fighting over Biggie or Tupac gets you shot in certain neighborhoods, I want to go there. For Chrissakes, somebody needs to talk some sense into their heads. Given my personal habits, I should've died a long time ago. So I'm that guy.

As far as Jay-Z signing his checks, well, he's a weak employee if he never questions the boss.

I hate this thread.

Also for the record I didn't even know Beck was still producing new music. I also thought him winning an award for "rock" music was weird.

Beck put on a fantastic show at Forecastle last summer.

Brilliant song, amazing delivery, and before I forget....oh so original.

If this is supposed to prove anything to me, it doesn't.

It appears that he's separating himself from the black race in this tune to paint that he's better, but if he thinks he's that much better than black, how much better than white do you suppose he thinks he is?

Putting down his own race doesn't convince me that he wouldn't put down another.

Sure, at the end of the day he's all about Kanye.

You can say anything you want.

I can say anything I want.

Kanye can say anything that he wants.

From where I stand he and his tunes are arrogant, ignorant, hateful, full of attitude, generic, annoying, and unoriginal, and speaks volumes of how talentless and ignorant he is.

He told you that he was the :poop: and you bought into it.

Some hip hop can move me and hit the right vibe...this does not. To each their own, but a steady diet of this would drive me nuts. In a world full of so much music, this would fall into the category of a severe waste of my time.

Since hip hop's inception there has been only a small percentage that has separated itself from being the same old same old. Sure, it's slowly evolved in 30 some odd years, but not enough to point out very many original artists. The nature of the genre itself doesn't even lend itself to stretch its wings very far. It was an interesting novelty when it began, but for it to take over and outshine R & B was overkill beyond description. Because of it, there's been 30 years of possible creative decent music highlighting good lyrics, melody, and vocal talents shot to hell all for this redundant illiterate nonsense. Sure, there's been some other good stuff that's snuck through over the years, but sadly hip hop has created a musical desert where generation after generation lacks any push to move forward from the same same same. Sure hip hop is not all black, but it does nothing to help the black culture move forward either creatively, or socially. The messages more than not keep pushing the idea to keep whining, keep braggin', keep promoting a dead end existence unless you stand up to the mic to make money by whining, braggin', and promoting a dead end existence. Unimaginative white kids have now for years bought into the same same sameness of hip hop because it's a numbing of the mind that lacks any effort to see beyond it. Some white kids now think it's cool to jump on board to keep whining, keep braggin', and keep promoting a dead end existence. In my mind it's ultimately just promoted a cultural and artistic dead end for all races.

Thankfully there is actually a bit more variety out there coming from an original artistic place that's available for people to seek out who don't want to just settle for the same beat, same redundant unimaginative rhyme format, and same whining bragging message.

I'm with you on a lot of stuff musically, but damn.

This would work so much better if the person who created it knew the difference between "your" and "you're."

Ed Sheeran bores you!? His music is all amazing. And unlike most of his peers, he actually sings live. And he sounds like his radio and album when he does it. Dude is beyond talented. I didn't realize John Mayer was on stage...weird.

Taylor Swift makes me uncomfortable. It's like she knows she is the popular girl in high school and everyone is paying attention so she does all the "right things" and acts like such a sweet proper lady. But when the cameras are off who knows.

Ed Sheehan is kinda terrible. But anyway …

Whatever Kanye's thoughts are on who shoulda won this or who shoulda won that, it's irrelevant. As a performer, it's garbage for him to do that not once, but twice. His thoughts on the matter don't matter, and it's not for him to decide that this is the right time to upstage someone else, lest he be upstaged.

It's those folks' moment, not his. He has the power of the press at his behest to make comments on what is right or wrong.

It sounds like some on here are defending him to me...but maybe not. I rarely watch these award shows because they bore me. Was not watching live - just saw the clips the next morning...did the audience laugh because they thought it was funny or was it more of a nervous laughter?? I have no idea. I don't see anyone defending. You have people that are emotionally bothered by Kanye's antics and people who think Kanye is an insufferable jerk whose antics are hilarious.

Everybody got nervous and when he quickly turned around and went back to his seat everyone relaxed and enjoyed the joke. Beck even invited him to come on stage with him.

Kanye was a jerk in the interview after the show. No doubt about it.

I can't help but think it is hilarious that people are that bothered by someone's antics at an award show for music. It ain't that serious but damn y'all are angry about a dude that "ruined" someone's 15-30 seconds of their life. Y'all act like he rushed the stage and stole the Grammy out of their hands and held the Grammy for ransom or something. :lol2: :lol2:

I agree. Don't know what everyone's so worked up about. Beck's a loser; he said so himself.

I'm completely floored that real people actually watch the Grammys. Wow.

I'll never forget my music teacher in high school spending an entire class the morning after the Grammys one year on a rant about how much good music is out there in the world and that we didn't have to take our cues from over-produced drivel we see on TV. It was hilarious. He passed last year. I miss that guy.

Anyway... I always watch for the performances. The awards themselves tend to be useless, but If I can get 3-4 really good performances then I'm usually happy with the show.

This yeaar:

1) Sia's performance was the most interesting thing on the whole show.

2) Annie Lennox KILLED IT in her performance with Hozier.

3) Tony Bennett has still got it.

I was at least amused by one or two more.
